Well it has to be taken in perspective as most restaurants in Carvoeiro are such crap. But we always get a decent meal in Ele & Ela.

That's a very sweeping generalisation clearly based on your biased' opinion and the absence of any comments by you on other specific eating establishments. I might be forced to make an even greater sweeping generalisation that you have a vested interest in said place?

How is it that the many people who contribute positively to this forum have a very different 'general' opinion to yours :?

After our visit to Ele & Ela in Sept this year (1st time we'd been to E&E for 3 years) we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and time there. Next Sept we will go back, for sure.

Absolutely not, I just feel that most places serve pretty much the same stuff. I have also commented positively on Pimenta Preta and another one I rate is La Vela Vita.

Two reasonable restaurants - for those who like that style of dining - not for me.

They are not for all I suspect - so I for one, will stop short of labelling them 'crap' and neither will I class Ele & Ela in that category. I simply do not like the place :)

As I like mine very rare, I shouldn't believe someone who calls himself Steak-Well-Done, particularly as he is damning most restaurants in the village.

Mind you, "pretty much the same stuff" does apply to a lot of the places but does not necessarily mean it's bad stuff.

Seems a long while since anybody wrote an update about this restaurant. Visited last week and we were blown away by the quality and variety of food on offer. We dine out a lot in Europe, the USA and Canada and we were struggling to think of any meal that we've enjoyed as much as we did in Elle & ella, fantastic quality and flavours to die for - thanks for a memorable meal.

I admit to be no fan , but the last post is a bit over the top, anyone would think that they are fine dining, which clearly they are not.

I have heard some very good reports about the vale of Olives , how do they compare , has anyone been there ?

EMM - totally agree with your assessment of Ele & Ella - soulless place, tasteless food and not user friendly. Had it not been for the TV across the street showing some sporting event - A welcome distraction - I'd have left.

Where is the Vale of Olives :)

Yes - I know where you mean - not been but suspect its intended Market is the 'well heeled' tourist.

You always have to wonder if someone with just 3 posts might have a vested interest. I have to agree with EMM, I've eaten in Elle and Ellas a few times and I've also eaten in a lot of places around the world. I honestly couldn't say where my best meal has been but it safe to say it wasn't anywhere on the out or in road. I'd probably Leipolds in Johannesburg if I had to name the most memorable. The Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham ranks amongst the best.

Let's put this in perspective.....

There are alot of very similar standard tourist targeted restaurants in Carvoeiro.
In that there are good, bad and average.

Elle&Ela sits comfortably in the higher bracket, and in the top 3 in Carvoeiro.

There are far better restaurants a little further out, if you take the trouble.
Pimenta Preta beyond the top of restaurant hill, heading for Centiannes
La Bella Vita, beyond Rocha Brava at Clube Atlantico

Then further out, Chrissys at Lagoa, (but NOT on a music night!)
A Barrada on the old Silves road...............

All around us, in Silves, Porches, Ferragudo and up towards Monchique, there are some excellent restaurants to be discovered.

But there are many who love Ele&Ella, and rate this as their favourite restaurant, my own daughter included.

That's fine......if they are happy....that is all they ask, so let's not knock it.
