Primavera update required
Re: Primavera update required
Regarding Bar Boa Vista (ex-Primavera), I was talking to Christina yesterday and they are tearing their hair with frustration at the ever-changing demands of the Camara but are not prepared to pay the conventional back-hander.
They still want to open as soon as possible however and anticipate - rightly in my opinion - good business for at least drinks from the enlarged Boa Vista estate whose inhabitants at present have to drive for a drink.
I bought a new bicycle in April ready for the opening and am looking forward to defying all the dogs en route for my caneca

Its not the dogs but their Poo thats a problem. Like france the Portuguese seem to have no concept off picking up after their pets.

Time has run out as he has to be out by December 31st - given that there is no love lost between the parties involved any departure from that date would have serious cost and legal implicationsfmm wrote:Was June, then July, then August ...

Re: Primavera update required
The issues with the Camara are only a fraction of the reason behind the delay. Apparently there are other issues that have got in the way.
More importantly - when it eventually opens it is not going to be a restaurant as in the Primavera of old - it is going to be a chicken take away and will not be called Primavera.

Re: Primavera update required
The 'new' Primavera is hoping to open on or about 1st December - but realistically it is probably going to be December 21st. He is waiting for a delivery of glass from Germany that will cover in the terrace around the front of the restaurant.
I was shown around the building yesterday afternoon by Domingos and was surprised at the amount of terrace space they have created - it has a nice feel to it. The inside space will seat 60-70 but the capacity with all the terraces open will be 200 - it's impressive in the way they have used the space. From what appeared to be small site you will all be amazed at the improvement this redevelopment has brought about. One thing that always baffled me with VM - was the way Paulo would usher you to the Accordion Bar across the road if your table wasn't ready. They have created a raised terrace within the confines of the building that will remove the need for that. It has an eye-catching modern colour scheme that will make it stand out from the crowd.
He is keeping his options open for New Year's Eve as far as the location is concerned - it will either be in Villa Medici or the 'new' Primavera - glass permitting

Re: Primavera update required
The new Boavista restaurant can be found on this years Freemap so they were obviously more optimistic than events have realised.
Why anyone should should that there is any connection with the old Primavera I do not know. It was always going to be a local Piri Piri place ( much needed ) and nothing more.
Lets hope that they finally resolve all the issues before next spring as we locals ( below the salt ) need somewhere within walking distance.

Re: Primavera update required
There was a suggestion in the early days that they would attempt to recreate what was a reasonably successful business - but not in Boa Vista - next stop - the chicken shack down the road

Any update on the old Primavera site at the top of Estrado do Farol ? Is it open yet and will they be having a New Years Eve bash?

Re: Primavera update required
Further to my previous - they are scheduled to open on December 19th - subject to the receipt of some special glass that is coming from Germany. It will be used to encase the external front terrace.
There is a New Year's Eve party scheduled to take place in the new premises with Villa Medici as the fall-back should they not be finished. I have had a tour of the premises and it is great - it is very modern. There is no resemblance to the previous operation and should it be required it can seat 220 people - including the external terraces. Terraces have been created on all sides to give it a feel of roominess - something the previous building did not do. The internal accommodation can take between 60 and 80 (that includes the enclosed front terrace). They have created a raised terrace to the back and side where those who turn up on speck and have to wait for a table can have a drink while they wait. The accordeon bar across the road will feel the 'pinch' with the loss of that trade - during the summer months.
Those who have not seen it recently will be struck by the external colour scheme - it is a vivid claret and certainly catches the eye.

Re: Primavera update required
Notices have gone up in the windows of the old " boavista bar " announcing that they are opening soon as a Chicken Piri Piri restaurant.
There has certainly been a lot of wrk going on in recent weeks.
I do not know what " soon " means but they will certainly be a good addition to our choice of local eateries.
