At Marisqueira, Vittor collects the raw fish, walks around to the grill and cooks it - in full view of the entire restaurant. I think you can say that this is definitely not prepacked!

If he serves chips are these cut from potatoes peeled on site etc or are they prepacked frozen ones.

There is absolutley nothing wrong in that or the use of any pre prepared veg. We are not paying for or expecting michelin star quality dining.

No - new potatoes and brussel sprouts. THe brussels may be frozen. I often have a salad with the fish anyway - so all fresh for me!!!

That may be so to a certain degree but i was told that they had cooked a batch of them together (inferring that they were home made )

Which was not true .

ITs a " scam " you see all the time in the UK. " home made should mean created from scratch " Home cooked means cooked on the premises, pre pack micro wave etc.

Pre-packed or not, I have never had a bad meal in there, and Karin and Hans always make us welcome. They have got the place up for sale, and if they manage to sell it I will be sorry to see them go, but will wish them all the best with whatever they do next.
They had live music ion Tuesdays and Thursdays in the summer, and they and other local bar/restaurant owners shared the cost. The two girls on Tuesdays were great.

Went there tonight -food and service exemplary. Only complaint was that the spare ribs are too big. Karin said "no problem - have one between two and a sobremesa next time" !! Good advice

This used to be our favourite restaurant. Has it re-opened with the new owners? If so, any one tried it yet?

Yes! It's under new ownership. We tried it last week and the menu appears to be the same as before. We both had the swordfish with mango and coconut sauce and it was good, though the sauce was possibly a bit runnier than I remember, and less of it. The original cook is not there - the new chef is one of the new owners.

Hi, this is Hans, I can tell you Karin and I are still living in the Algarve, it's been our home for the past 19 years and we're not planning to move. To clear things up: We've been running the Oasis for 15 years and about one and a half year ago the idea came up to sell the restaurant as we would like to look around and find another challenge. We were not able to sell the restaurant (the global crisis didn't really help) and saw a good alternative for selling in leasing the place. We were glad to come to bussiness with Frank and Cristina, who opened up on the 1st of March. At the moment they're open 7 days a week, lunch and dinerhours. The kitchenstaff is the same, obviously except for their days off, that's when Frank, who's a very experienced chef, is in charge of the kitchen. The menu didn't change yet, although they have some daily specials, next to the menu. Frank and Cristina will give their own twist to the Oasis, but I'm sure they will do a very good job!
We'll be around in Carvoeiro and hope to see all of you soon!
Best regards and thanks for many lovely years.
Hans & Karin.

To Karin and Hans',
May we wish every happiness and success, in your next venture, whatever it may be.
Look forward to seeing you both around the Village, when we are there.
Regards
Bobbie and Hubbie.

Nice Irish waitress, Leanne, has left! She has moved to either Harry's bar or Taste. She will be sadly missed by us and friends who got used to her friendly banter and brilliant service. But good luck to her in her new place of work. I know she loves Carvoeiro lots.

hadn't seen Oasis on this forum for a while so wanted to leave a little note about it; met some friends there on Monday before leaving, had a nice couple of beers in Hemmingways beforehand and chatted with India to catch up with chat then went over the road;
the menu seems to be the same but it might as well just say 'ribs' because I didn't see anyone eating anything else and the 4 of us all had them, still very delicious,
saw Frank and his wife & said hello, and their restaurant was very busy, nice to see it all going well :)
