A Rede
Re: A Rede
Not one of my favourite restaurants, mainly due to the large choice which always makes me suspcious its ' ping' food and frozen
Howevever, credit where credit is due, and for my two boys who never ever get full, its a real bargain. lots of choice for them, loads of food and a reasonable price.
long may they have simple tastes (or at least let them get a job before they want to frequent the more expensive establishments)

Re: A Rede
I just didnt enjoy being ignored and receiving bad service, which means no matter how good the food( and it wasnt)I would not go back.
Carvoeiro and area is awash with restaurants, so no need to reward bad food and behaviour.
We visit Carvoeiro at least 8 times per year and know how warm and welcoming the majority of restaurants and bars are and how hard they work.

Re: A Rede
Strangely the only restaurant he feels worth reporting on is A Rede - excellent service in September (reported 30/12/11) and again now.
Are you getting a bit paranoid in your assumptions Bruce ?

Re: A Rede
My wife and I had a fantastic meal and service in A Rede in November 2011, so i can only speak as I find and Tito is not the only one satisfied at this restaurant.

Re: A Rede
We have been to A Rede a couple of times over the years. The first time me and my husband had fallen out and weren't talking - the head waiter with the big personality was consoling my husband because I 'must be hard work' - ????!!!! We laugh about it now.....
We have also been with our girls when they were young and they liked that the 'food was on fire'! We pass it every night when we go into town, but as I said we have only been there twice, even though it always seems full and the food is 'nice'. I guess we all have our favourite restaurants and on a holiday which you look forward to all year, you tend to spend your money and support those which are your own family favourites.

Re: A Rede
Apologies for ignorance here. A Rede is at the top of the hill, next to Vimar, isn't it. Or am I getting mixed up. In the low season at least, the boss hangs outside trying to hoik customers in. The first year we stayed at the Tivoli, that was entertaining in a way. Last year, we found it annoying and walked on the opposite side of the road, but still got called at. I thought the food was OK, and the atmosphere was very pleasant, but we preferred the Vimar 2 years ago. Not open when we were there last April.
We are coming back again in April, just after Easter, and looking forward to it. It's the first time in over 30 years we have ever been to the same place 3 years running. We thought about trying to find a place like Carvoeiro somewhere else - but it probably doesn't exist. We just love the place out of season - pleasant weather, nice walks, the relaxation, loads of restaurants. There is so much to recommend the village.
Please forgive my ramblings. I just love Carvoeiro in early Spring.
BB.
Edit. If this is not the right place for my comments, please move them. Thanks.

Re: A Rede
The Vimar was open in December and very good it was too. As I was the only customer in the restaurant that evening, we had a chat about this and that etc. Lets just say they were not overimpressed by the owner/staff of A Rede trying to poach potential customers who stopped to examine the menu outside Vimar. I look forward to returning to Vimar this year.Bigben wrote:Apologies for ignorance here. A Rede is at the top of the hill, next to Vimar, isn't it. Or am I getting mixed up. Re: A Rede
It is one of the things that sets Carvoeiro apart from other resorts is that we are not pestered by touts be it for bars or restaurants.
Long may this continue.

Re: A Rede
He's still at it!! He tried to divert us from going to Vimar this month, and when we came out of Vimar still had a go at us. I like Vimar, have not eaten at A Rede as don't like the hard sell.Bigben wrote:Apologies for ignorance here. A Rede is at the top of the hill, next to Vimar, isn't it. Or am I getting mixed up. Re: A Rede
Years ago there used to be a waiter(?) outside of O Tasco (top of Restaurant Hill on the left next to the Chinese) every night chatting up everyone that walked by. We used to taunt him by reading his menu and he would scoot out to tell us the specials and then we would disappear into the Chinese restaurant. It became a game. Not only that, but he parked his Jeep right in front of the restaurant where guests should be parking.
Re: A Rede
The guy from the Indian always touts for business and is handing out flyers - he is very polite so not a problem.
The chap from ARede can be a little overpowering
