A Rede
Re: A Rede
I'm one such road-crosser. There's only so many times they can pester, week after week, until it gets very gratingBigben wrote: Last year, we found it annoying and walked on the opposite side of the road, but still got called at.

Re: A Rede
We are 'road crossers' too! How funny!
But we like the bar just down from A Rede for a pre-dinner drink, so we have to hop back across!!

Re: A Rede
Mrs-B, can you remember the name of the bar?
Am I allowed to ramble again? Opposite A Rede, we came across what looked like a very new Italian place - just can't remember the name. We went in for a meal, but they had incredibly loud live music - well it seemed like that to me, as I have both tinnitus and hyperacusis - so we left pretty damn quick. We are coming back in April, so we are wondering if there any comments/reviews?
Thanks. BB.

Re: A Rede
Hi,
I believe the bar in question is called 'Accordiao' - or something to that effect - I'm sure someone will help me out if I am wrong! It's run by a friendly bunch and it is a great spot to watch people wander into town in the early evening. They do have live music a couple of nights a week, but I can't recall it ever to have been 'too much'.
I'm not sure which Italian you are referring to as there are two in quite close proximity! On the corner, opposite A Rede, is a restaurant called Primavera (which I think is fab) which used to be where Villa Medici is (which has steps leading up to it and is opposite the bar). Still with me?! I haven't been in the 'new' Villa Medici, so I can't comment.
If you look through the threads you will see that there has been numerous discussions regarding both of the above, with a particular flurry of excitement when Primavera opened last year. It is certainly not the cheapest restaurant in CVO, but for a treat during the holiday we really like it. It always seems to be busy, so sometimes the service is not the quickest, but we have got to know some of the staff over the years (with some working at other restaurants in CVO) so we just go with the flow. I am not sure about the live music though - perhaps you could check what nights music is on before you booked?
I hope that helps,
MrsB

Re: A Rede
Bar Accordeo is the bar in between A Rede and Marisqueira and opposite Villa Medici and Primavera. Primavera did have a lot of music last year - whereas I don't recall Villa Medici having any at all.
Bar Accordeo has music during the main season on a Sunday evening and (I think) Wednesday. My mind has gone blank so it may be Tuesday! One person playing and guitar and singing and definitely not too loud or over the top. Jonny has been playing there for several years and is excellent entertainment.
Also, don't forget you have the best fish restaurant next to Bar Accordeo (Marisqueira) - and you can have your drinks and be called to your table when it is ready ...

Re: A Rede
MrsB and fmm, thanks for those comments. Useful for the next visit in early April. Looking forward to it already, even though still 2 months away.
Re: A Rede
Have a great time - very jealous! CVO in the Spring is just beautiful. And nice one fmm to recommend Marisqueira - one of the massively underrated restaurants on the forum. Are they closed one night of the week though?
Let us know your reviews when you come home!

Re: A Rede
Marisqueira closes on Sundays. Hopefully, he will have re-opened after his winter break by the time we are there late February.
Re: A Rede
The bar and restaurant are usually opened at the beginning of February
Re: A Rede
Yes, Marisqueira is open and we are going tonight
