A Tasquinha Lagoa
Re: A Tasquinha Lagoa
Depends if you have car or feeling energetic?can't get directions
Standing in the square, looking at the sea, walk up the coast road on your right and keep following it round ( I guess about 20/30 mins) until you come to the Monte Carvoeiro development on your right.
Turn right & right again & A Tasquina is at the end of the cul-de-sac on your left.
If you know that part of the world, quicker way is up to Ma Ja's , keep going up the hill, turn right past medical centre & school & then take one of the paths on your left, going through Monte Carvoeiro from the other direction.
It's beginning to sound as if they should have stayed in Lagoa...more atmosphere & the prices were a bit cheaper.

Lunch trade in the summer is very poor in all the restaurants, everyone is on the beach or around the pool. Too hot for anything other than a snack, evenings is different, everywhere is soooo busy.

I agree with Geoff, should have stayed in Lagoa
Not a great spot and too big

You need to head up hill to Monte Carvoeiro following the coastal road to the right side of the square as you are looking at the sea. Once at the top it is fairly close to the small car park, although not in that square.

No first hand reports for some time?.....couple of friends reported it was a bit pricier than when in Lagoa , with little of the old ambiance....and not very full ( it is off the beaten track).
Any truth in the rumour that they are going back to Lagoa for the (rest of ) the winter?

Re: A Tasquinha Lagoa
We have used the Monte Carvoeiro version quite a lot since it opened, 3 times on our most recent visit.
We have eastern both inside and out, and enjoyed the ambiance, especially with the Wednesday music.
It is different to Lagoa. Not so intimate, no grandad sitting there eating his supper, and maybe a wee bit more expensive.
For me to recommend a restaurant at Monte Carvoeiro must mean its good.......you know very well that we aristocrats from the east of town suffer nosebleeds when we venture up there!!!!

Love it !!Bruce Wallis wrote:We have eastern both inside and out
I too have eaten there a few times and do not recollect it being noticeably more expensive than Lagoa, but being walkable, we certainly manage to drink more !
Has the Lagoa restaurant closed now ?
Re: A Tasquinha Lagoa
When we were there in November, Marco said that he could not run both restaurants so the Lagoa one is closed for now. Hope he manages to stay open over the winter, as the food is really good and it is walkable for us as well.

Hi Bruce.
Glad you have eastern both in and out. Next time try the western - same food but a bit warmer

Marco told us that he might re-open the Lagoa restaurant as a tapas bar but I wasn't convinced it would happen.

Went in here by chance this evening, not having been in since before it changed hands. Just a short walk for us and would definitely recommend it - food excellent, sensibly priced wine and good jazz duo to entertain us. 2 courses with beer and wine came to 46euros. We'll be back.
