I see this is now open. Seems to be Moroccan food but can't see a Menu posted outside so that you can see what the damage might be. Anybody been??

The old Bistro that became Mitch's, next to Barth & Aleixo with entrances from both the in road and the out road. Been empty for a while and now refurbished

medina opened last Sunday...the decor is moroccan and the food is a mix of Portuguese and European. It is a little different - there are 2 bars and a restaurant...

Thats a shame...I got all excited at the thought of some Middle Eastern food....Hoummous/Tangine/Tabbouleh/Swamhahs et al....looks very like the standard Restaurant Hill fayre to me, admittadly with a few welcome Portuguese bolt ons.
Still, anything more imaginitive than Piri Piri/steak and kebabs is to be welcomed!

I think you will find that at least 50% on the menu you will not find anywhere else in Carvoeiro ... and there will be food served in tangines...
don't think you will be disappointed. Come in and 1 of the staff will explain the menu to you. I know the dishes are good because I have tried them all...and yes, I am the new owner - not wishing to hide behind forum id's.

I guessed that PJ.....Lamb tangine....mmmmmmmmmm

I wonder if you extended your menu to emphasise the middle eastern, whether you would be tapping into a market that would be very successful.
I for one would love it!

We will be back out in July, so will pay you a visit.

Would re-iterate views on Middle Eastern Food. A definite market 4 it in urs, if u have the chef 2 cook the traditional Middle Eastern Fayre & not the gloop that westerners think of Middle Eastern food.
I, myself, when we come over in October would be eating day & nite in urs if it were some really tasty classic Arabic dishes , oooh & the breads, yummy, yummy.( I lived in Saudi 4 10 yrs & miss decent Arabic food soooo bad)

One of the great ironies was when I was working in Dubai and Manama(Bahrain) it was almost impossible to get real Arabic food unless you were invited to an arabic home. Every kind of international food you could ever want...but not arabic.
Ohh the joys of a traditional Eid feast, makes my mouth water to remember it...even if my hosts did wash it down with coca-cola and orangeade!

thank you for yours and Bruce's good wishes, it is my intention to have some 'live' entertainment and I have been talking with Mandy and some other acts - I hope to have the appropriate paperwork in a couple of weeks ... then again this is Portugal and everything happens when it happens - all part of the charm and occasionally the frustration.

At the moment the food at medina does not include Arabic food - my Portuguese chef is busy learning the new foods I do have, talvez um dia deste...I look forward to welcoming you, whether for food, drink or just a look at the renovation. There is also another new bar 'Innside' with rumours of a vegetarian restarant at the end of Rua do Barranco opening soon - plus Algarvida has just reopened as an art / photo gallery. more to see and do along here as an alternative to Rua do Farol and we have parking

We are back out there 24th August and look forward to having a meal at the 'Medina'. When we were out there in April we noticed that 'Mitch's was being renovated. Hope it works out well PJ.

What lousy Bank Holiday weather we have here today - cold, wet and windy. Even have the central heating on!!!

...Hubby and son had a great meal at this restaurant, highly recommended, sadly I was at home WORKING!!! well done to all and best wishes for a great future.....I have to wait until Sept until I try the menu

I think Medina is great. Something different to the norm that is out there. A great atmosphere to have a social drink, light bite or meal. What has been done with the building is beautiful and definately worth checking out. I will be in there as often as possible!!

Hi PJ, menu sounds very interesting and inviting - must try it out when we are over there again, probably be October now.

yes - last UK address was Leamington Spa. Have been coming to Portugal for 18 years and moved to Carvoeiro last July.
