Ive never been to this restuarant but have heard varying opinions on it. Is it good food, service etc? Is it costly?
and how do you get to it please from CVO?

Morning Ellie, this restaurant is on the road into Sesmarias just before the water tower on the right. the decor is very nice food not bad, but quite expensive, service is good. Went once - can live without going back.

this is a new menu of course since we were there 2 years ago. Must say it does sound good, maybe give it another try this year.

We only actually made it to Bon Bon this year after visiting CVO for many years. I would certainly recommend it for the ambience aswell as an interesting and totally delicious menu. It's worth the extra funds for the experience to sample something a little different. When I first walked in I thought the waiters seemed a bit well..."stiff" but actually they were professional and turned out to be a giggle. Oh yes - they also had lovely wine glasses which for me tends to make a difference

I have been coming to Carvoeiro for over twenty years, and seen restaurants come and go. Some good and some bad.
Naturally one finds the places that provide the food, wine, and service that caters for your needs.
As this is an ongoing study, we try to find something new/different every visit, to replace any that still do not perform.
Over the years the Bon Bon was considered,but rejected as an earlier visit a number of years ago had been bad.
However last month we again discussed the restaurant issue and decided to again give it a try.
The setting was fine, really busy...
The food however was extremely poor, the staff aloof and acted in a could'nt care less way, and the owner.... well what an arrogant man...
When challenged the the sauce for the spicy shrimps came out of a jar, agreed,and could'nt care less about complaints, as in his words"the restaurant is full every night so what"

In our opinion this place should be avoided like the plague...

Are you sure that that was the owner and not the maitre D?

We had a lovely time when the owner served us. He was charming and kind to the children. They loved it...and him. The food was good, though not special and the ambience was nice (but a bit old feeling).

The second time we attempted to come, it was a completely different experience. We didn´t have reservations but came just as they opened. With children, we usually eat and run (early). No different behavior on our part from last time. However, this time, we were treated to a ´´greeting´´ by the maitre d. Very unpleasant person, arrogant and pretentious. No tables available, even though there were no patrons yet. We tried to explain that we would be gone by 7:30. No, No, No and the way it was presented was extremely rude. So, we left and went to Bella Italia and had a fabulous meal with extremely courteous service (and again, no reservations!).

Too bad on Bon Bon´s part as they have lost a customer...and we are full time residents who go out often.

4 of us went to Bon Bon between Christmas and New Year. Very good food and service as I have always found it to be. €35 a head. Very busy with live music that we did not find totally necessary!

Bon Bon now provides the catering at Boa Vida I understand??

Had a great night yesterday at Bon Bon. Some changes there, that we experienced as being very positive. New staff in the restaurant and a new Chef in the kitchen. The all new menu promised a lot just by reading alone and we were certainly not disappointed. Several mouthwatering dishes were served and we were pleasantly surprised by the high standards. We will have to go back for more!

Can anyone confirm the changes - is it new management or is it the same (tall) owner and (short) maitre'd still? - I would love to go back but have vowed not to whilst these guys are still running the show.

I suppose by 'the tall guy' you mean the dutch owner At? Sure he is still there, and I have learned to know him as a very friendly person and a good host.

We had dinner there again last Saturday, and both my wife and I had difficulties in choosing from the menu; it was all so tempting. Instead of the usual starter-maincourse-dessert-menu we decided to go for a range of starters, followed by a maincourse that was divided for us on two plates. It appeared to be a good choice, the only downside was that it left us no room for dessert...

Oh well, another good reason to go back again.

Always found the tall guy very charming. The extra morsels are quite different and very tasty, beware though, it's a cash only restaurant.
