Having been to Mistral recently and thoroughly enjoyed the experience , I pooped along to say thankyou to the chef.
Had a lovely chat , asked me to come back with my boy , even if I decided not to have a meal just come for a drink.
They are having everynight someone on hand to keep children occupied , with face painting , games etc.
Well done Mistral
This is a lovely outside funky restaurant ( has inside bits as well ) , the music and singers are fantastic , and the food delightful
Definetely worth visiting.
If you are there for a special romantic reason ask for the special table.

Well you obviously weren't there on the night I was!!!

V rude, tall, blond waiter that when he saw things weren't going smoothly didn't come back and sent a young boy to sort out the problems. Waited hour and a half for main courses THEN the kitchen got it wrong. Food V salty. I personally don't like that type of music and find it a bit strange that one of the chefs and waitresses stop to dance when orders are V over due. I got the impression that nobody and everybody was in charge and there was no comunication between waiters, kitchen and grill.

Type too fast with one finger ; baggysally tell them about the beautiful night we all had there , hopefully not too long before we all back there again
xxx
The brazilian music that is played and the singer are brilliant , full of life. and yes the staff do join in , but then so did we. This is in evening to relax and take your time over your food , its not macdonalds. We were there for hours , because we wanted too be , never rush a good experience.
With regards to the food being to salty , did you complain at the time , also about the waiter did you say anything ?
If you dont say at the time how can the do anything about it , how can they rectify it. :)

We've had a few good meals here, but went a couple of months ago and the service was really, really slow - since then I've heard 2 different reports of people leaving after an hour and a half without even being served their starters - I wonder what's gone wrong this year?

The nice thing is that even though they appear to be packed every night , I have only ever seen a few complaints , which considering the amount of people is very good.
But you really must complain at the time , its great having this website to voice our opinions , but thats the best way to sort it , dont let an evening be ruined sort it out there and then ( my mum had a restaurant so I know what its like ).
Happy eating , give them a 2nd chance and this time tell them from the start , no salt , I only have a limited time , whats the waiting time ? and whats the entertainment ? etc , tell them what your needs are and if they cant help at least you can go somewhere else , this applies to all restaurants , and other buisness.

We have been going to Mistrals for a a year or so and never, repeat never have had a poor meal or poor service. If you make yourself known when entering the place and ask to be seated and that you are eating you will find everyone welcomes you. It is also a place to visit for a drink or so at the bar or at the seating area up behind the bar. Here you are welcome to drink and sit without interuption. The music is part of the entertainment. If you do nor like Brazillian music or food please do not go and then complain as that is stupid and rather ignorant. It states it is a Brazillian themed music restuarant and bar. So to the person that did not like it, that was your mistake to go there if you do not like that type of thing. The food, well if you do not like salt, oil or whatever please make it known when ordering. The place is very relaxed, hance the dancing, the staff joining in and also that they try and get the children and adults alike to join in the dancing and groove of the place. If you like fast food, then perhaps a burger joint is more to your liking so I suggest you eat there rather than complaining how long the food etc takes to arrive or be served. If the place is mega busy, again do not expect immediate service etc. The front of house staff and the different kitchens there can only work at a certain speed and thats how long decent food takes to cook.
All in all we love the slow speed, lively music and friendly staff, for those that do not please go elsewhere rather than crying long after the show

I am quite prepared to sit through any type of music, I DID say I PERSONALLY don't like it!!

Oh you can be sure we complained on the night about the amount of time we waited. The answer was that everyone ordered at the same time :? Our table WAS booked WELL in advance, they KNEW we we're eating.

If a resturant has 10 or 150 seats surely there must be a time when everyone sits down virtually at the same time and orders?? They should be ready.

There are two restuarnts I would NEVER recommend in carvoeiro and this is one of them AND they both begin with M

Before I get a load of try it again, this was the 3RD time

It seems to me rabbit that you like and will protect every establishment in Carvoeiro! This includes the Rascals thread (now deleted twice) Is that the truth or there establishments you would not entertain, let us know please. Other wise your losing credibility in my opinion.

There is a difference between a relaxed atmosphere, and service that's so slow that it becomes uncomfortable (one or two people served 15 or 20 minutes before the rest of the table) - comparisons to burger joints are unnecessary, I'm sure we all know the difference

It is a pity, as we have had some good evenings here in the past

Don't think that was necessary.

I think I'd be pretty pissed off if I had to wait an hour and a half for a meal.

Seems to me when people rave about how good a place is it's OK, but say a bad word about somewhere...

This forum is everyone's personal opinion about the meal they had (hopefully most of them are truthfull and accurate reviews) in places around carvoeiro. You don't have to "not go" because someone here didn't like it, but when there are several bad reviews about the same place maybe you should be prepared to be dissapointed.

Likewise you don't have to jump down someones throat when they don't like it or it wasn't up to standard.

Apologies, I agree, and I too would be appalled if I had to wait and hour and a half for a meal. I was still right to say though, that a wait is neccessary for a meal, if it were to be cooked from scratch and in a busy place however not that length of time. It is correct to say that if one wants an immediate meal then one would be better sent to a burger joint as that is 'fast food' and not 'slow food', the difference is comparable.
When and where we have a poor meal I have and would state so. We have in the past all of us who deign to comment have stated our favourites and where and when we have a good meal etc and all say where the good, bad and ugly are
