A Paleta, Lagoa
A Paleta, Lagoa
Great restaurant near Pingo Doce. Always had good food, good service and good prices. Usually got locals in - always good sign. However, once there was only our table occupied, so atmosphere not the same, but still a good night.
Re: A Paleta, Lagoa
Agreed - but Friday night is Fado night and always busy.
Food is good but, as a tip, ask for the fish to be lightly grilled - they tend to overcook it because they think that is how the Brits like it

We went there on a Friday for the Fado night...a good night, good food...BUT not as cheap as you might expect for an out of town restaurant.

Do you think that the prices were hiked up for Fado night perhaps ?Bruce Wallis wrote:...BUT not as cheap as you might expect for an out of town restaurant.
I somehow cannot believe its a high priced restaurant if roy4eyes reccommends it
Re: A Paleta, Lagoa
Our bill for 4 people - aperitifs, cover, starters, mains (all fish),desserts, coffee, 2 bottles of Mulharas vinho verde - came to 87 euros on Friday Fado night.
To me 21.75 euros per head for all that is not bad
My only negative comments were, as previously mentioned, they overcook the fish unless you ask for it lightly grilled and they ran out of desserts leaving only fresh fruit - healthier than molotov and chocolate mousse anyway

Re: A Paleta, Lagoa
Been going there for 15 years never ever been expensive bloody cheap to be honest for the quality of the food and service.
Re: A Paleta, Lagoa
In fact, since re-opening in December, seems even better value...in the evening they do a €8.50 for main course ( fish, chicken, pork etc ), nice pudding, coffee/water/cover...oh, and half a bottle of nice wine. Add in a €1.50 for a good bowl of soup, and the €10 gives Escondidinho a run for it's money!
More expensive courses and wines are available.
