Tasca David Indian Restaurant Ferragudo
Tasca David Indian Restaurant Ferragudo
This is a real gem of a restaurant, cosy and very welcoming with excellent Indian food. David greets you, and his wife Dipti takes time out from the kitchen to make sure that you happy with your meal. We just enjoyed their Sunday lunch buffet (from 1 pm to 4 pm) and certainly will be back for an evening meal soon. They have really good ratings on Trip Advisor, which are well deserved. It is a very small restaurant just seating 24 people. The tables are not crowded together which makes it very comfortable, and the background music is relaxing. Tel: 924 079 669. It is on the right hand side around the bend in the road, just outside of Ferragudo going towards Parchal. Plenty of parking across the road as well.

It used to be the spare ribs place if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for the review snowbirds, will definitely give it a go.

Yes, that is exactly where it is. They are closed Mondays but will be staying open all winter.

Just returned from a great meal at this restaurant. Staff were very welcoming and efficient. The owner (cook) was very friendly and I would go as far to say it was the best indian I have had in Portugal. Just the ticket on a rainy night in February. Very small restaurant which will no doubt be full in season. Very good value

Thanks for that Tricky, I don’t usually visit Chinese or Indian restaurants whilst abroad as I have those in abundance in London (I know, I know, not everybody has this luxury) but as I had an iffy meal in Fin do Mundo on my last visit to Ferragudo, I might well give this place a go on my next visit.
Re: Tasca David Indian Restaurant Ferragudo
We were warned off this place by Portuguese friends but nevertheless in view of the comments on this forum decided to give it a go. They were right !!
Firstly my prawn karai consisted of chicken and some indescribable sauce which was whipped away after my first mouthful and returned with the same sauce but some prawns and only one piece of chicken in it!! My companion, who is something of a curry connoisseur, rightly condemned his lamb dish as the worst curry he had ever been served in his life being simply a brown chili sauce with no hint of the delicate herbs and spices one gets in better Indian restaurants.
They have also discontinued the 'all-inclusive' meal.
I hate to criticise local businesses and we may have simply hit a bad night but taking all the above into consideration we came out wondering if we had been to the same restaurant as the previous reviewers.

I would still give it a try Sam.
Much as I respect Roy's views, I have tried it twice myself and enjoyed the meal on both occasions. Perhaps Roy hit a bad night.
Its not haute cuisine, its Indian food, home cooked and not formulaic.

Re: Tasca David Indian Restaurant Ferragudo
In that case, what night of the week did you visit Roy? I was toying with a Tuesday.
Re: Tasca David Indian Restaurant Ferragudo
We went last Thursday. To be fair the service was pleasant, the presentation good and the house wine drinkable. It was just the awful curry sauces, the chicken flavoured (and shaped !) prawns, the small portions and charged chutney (compared to Indiano with decent portions and free condiments) that we were not happy about.
For the consistently best Indian in the area I suggest you try the Bollywood in Armaçao de Pera - at the fishermen's huts end.
Please publish your verdict.

Re: Tasca David Indian Restaurant Ferragudo
Thanks Roy, I have no intention of trawling up and down the Algarve trying to find a decent Indian (or Chinese for that matter). Its just that I usually visit Ferragudo to hook up with some friends who live there, and am always on the lookout for a new and decent restaurant to visit. Its a shame your verdict differs from Tricky as I more often than not take notice of her recommendations.
