This restaurant has recently opened just outside Rocha Brava ( it is where Raphiols used to be) and is run by Helder and his son Christiano , who both used to work at Julio's . The food is good with large portions . The fresh fish is not sold by weight so is very reasonably priced and it was a pleasant find after the disappointing experience we had at Raphiols, which meant we never returned. If anyone remembers Helder from Julio's pay him a visit as he will make you very welcome !

It depends on what you think is unusual Mike, you might care to argue the point with management for an aperitif ?

Not sure whether there was anything unusual on the menu as we rarely look beyond the fish. They do have a couple of veggie dishes and I'm sure that there was a note on the menu to say that gluten free pasta was available.

Ate here last night would highly recommend, I had sea bass and hubby said his fillet steak was one ot the best he has had

Does anybody know if Helder and his son have reopened this again? Came out in March hoping to give it a try but it was closed and no name sign was up. Hoping it was just closed for the winter.

This restaurant now has different people running it and is called Alfanzina. It is now being run by the guy who used to run O Literal in Benagil. We ate their last week and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was good too. The restaurant was quite busy and as there is a large outdoor space we were able to sit outside, round the side of the restaurant out of the wind. Last year the restaurant was run by Helder , who is now working at Casa Lamy in Benagil , and his son Christiano , who us now back working at the A Gale . If anyone knows them from the old days at Julio's they will be very pleased to see you .

Is it the guy who used to work on the ships, there was two of them, one was German I think and the other a Portuguese/ American?
