Julios Restaurant

SORRY I CAN'T REPLY ON THE RESTAURANT SECTION - MY WIFE WHO HAS HAD TO RETURN UNEXPECTEDLY TO THE UK HAS THE PASSWORD, ETC.
Someone has finally had the guts to write the true review of Julios....
Yes, there was a very rude man there when we went as well and it was again a non-booking visit. It will be our last. We were shoved into a corner where "we could be forgotten" and oh dear, when we asked where the menus were, it was almost as if WW3 had broken out. Yes, we wanted to order.... And so it went on. Sorry we shall not go back - it was the longest most embarrassing meal we have had in CVO and there were people not so far away who were being treated like, how restaurant-goers should be treated - well. We live nearby and it will be a bit of a problem having to go further from home to eat out, but we will enjoy it and not have to put up with such poor service out and about.
I forgot to add - the food was ok, EVENTUALLY, but nothing special. Hey, and they forgot about us for so long, they nearly forgot to give us the bill!
Thankfully we have a good choice of restaurants in CVO, and staying home isn't so bad either..............

Agree with Martinj...went there once and never again..
exactly the same happened to us Martin....
and didnt like the food either.....
our first visit..but we felt sense of'isolation'!..service was very offhand..
while others (old regulars I suppose) were being fussed and fawned over....
We thought L'orange and.Romas food and service superior....
if I remember rightly Veggie.its almost opposite entrance to Rocha Brava :? ..but afraid it hasnt stayed long in my memory..
enjoyed better 'grub' in a local pastelaria :)

Altho' there is a direction sign there at the entrance to RB, as I recall the restaurant is down the hill near the road into Vale do Milho.

Spot on, out of RB and turn left and its on the right halfwayway down the hill to town and just before the VDM turn off, also on the right.. Out of town it appears on the left just past Centiannes on the right and VDM on the left. I have also posted messages about this restaraunt and will not return until I here that they cator to strangers, the odd diners, and those that would like a nice meal (if they are lucky) and even then I wouldn't leave a tip! It's around now that td comes up and says............"Can't understand why everyone's had such a bad time at Julios, whenever I go there it's been fantastic and I get smothered in roses and free drinks and everyone's got it wrong, it's a wonderful place"

td owns the palce I reckon.

It was me who posted the negative message about the very poor service at Julio's. I'm amazed that so many people have had exactly the same treatment as I was subjected to. I also witnessed the 'lovey' type welcome that regulars got, it almost made me want to puke as we were hustled in to a corner as though we should have been labelled 'non-bookers'. Glad people are speaking their minds about this place.

Because it looks nice, simple when you think about it, and apart from the chosen few, get at best only an average meal or worse!

Because there are a lot of pretentious people who like think that eating in expensive (rather than good) restaurants, makes them somehow more important. Julios especially panders to those who go regulalry to get he ego massaged.

Julios

I have been several times a year to Julios since it first opened. I am not a great fan since I have had indifferent meals as well as good meals there and the often noisily insensitive clientel get up my nose but my wife, daughter and sister think it is great. They like the atmosphere and the food and at least one of them admitted to being happy to be addressed as princess by the head waiter!

In my view Julios succeeds - and there is no doubt that it does - because it is pitched unashamedly at the middle class English abroad scene. Those who like this will be well satisfied but it is not to everyone's taste in the same way as Libbe at Happys is not everyone's cup of tea. This reflects the breadth of the eating scene in Carvoeiro and the wide variety of choice which should provide the means to satisfy all tastes.

julios was strange

Post by trekker »

We ate at Julio's in Feb 2004 and found the service ostentacious and the waiters punktilious. I c  an't spell worth anything but needless to say the dining experience was not worth the cost.

Food was OK but the mushroom appatizer was chopped fine and smothered in garlic. The Praun soup was purie and not at all tasty.

Not going again.
