Lawn bowling

Post by forester »

We're going to be staying near Carveiro for February and March and thought that we might try lawn bowling. We've never tried it before (unless curling counts for something) so we're strictly beginners. Is there a club somewhere reasonably close to Carveiro that might not mind a couple of rank amateurs joining their ranks for a short while?

They have 3 "simulated" bowling greens at Gramacho Golf Club which is 3 miles from Carvoeiro near a village called Sesmarias. At Amendoeira Golf near Alcantrilha they have proper lawn green bowls.

I have heard that the "greens " at Oceanico are being removed as the cost was too high and not enough business,

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. We've been contacted by Forum members (fellow Canadians as it turns out) who have some contacts with members at the Alvor club. So, we will give it a try there. We will, no doubt, be readily identifiable by our lack of ability and inappropriate dress code! :D
