Walk Monday 20 November 201 :Isle de Rosario (plus!):CLOSED
Walk Monday 20 November 201 :Isle de Rosario (plus!):CLOSED
WALK IS NOW CLOSED
This is an extrememly old favourite , but we have recently been advised of a variant or two , that makes it a bit more challenging and interesting.
It is a walk by the confluence of the Arade and the Odelouca. Around the Ilha do Rosario with beautiful views .It should take just over 2 hours & is easy(ish).
Distance about 9km or 5 miles. It is similar to the "Sunflower Landscapes" walk or the Julie Stratham walk .
The Mira Rio Cafe/Restaurant does a good €8 Prato de Dia for those who want lunch after!
Start : 10.00
Degree of difficulty: we will be going over the top, and the new route is probably a grade 2.5 : nothing too onerous, but uphill in a few places.
Directions: from CVO , cross the bridge into Silves & turn left on the R124towards Montchique/Portimao. After a little under 5 km you will see the Mira Rio cafe & restaurant on your left after a sharpish right hand bend. Parking is at the cafe , which is handy for a drink after!
Stout trainers/boots & a bottle of water suggested! Take your binoculars if you are a bird watcher. A walking pole is certainly useful......if the weather changes, bring some wet weather gear but I expect they won't be walking if it's really wet!
Any cancellation notice will be posted by 0830/0900 on the day.
No charge of course.
All walks are at your own risk.
Please indicate below if you can come, as numbers will be limited to about 20.

Ok by me...whether the dogs at the Mia Rio agree is another matter, but they always seem pretty docile and friendly....Steve and I would like to join the walk, with our young dog

Another beautiful Algarvian day saw 23 walkers and a record 4 dogs set off from the Mira Rio : the lavada had obviously flooded and the foothpath was suddenly a very sticky muddy one, needing shoe attention once cleared:
(Click on the photo to remove the " sliders" and show it fullsize).
We took a new, and i think better walk up to the top, bypassing the steep tarmac road :
and down the otherside, where we saw some communing with nature:
Back along the lavada where a snake jumped into the water....we think an adder?
Back safely.....Ken decided not to demonstrate how the sluice gates worked this time....and no one got lost ( please note Willie!)...for a well earned beer etc:
and a good chicken or fish lunch for 7.5€ still, for 15.
2.5 hours, 10km.
