WALK - MONDAY 9 MARCH 2020 - FIGUEIRAS - CLOSED

The walk starts from Café Sociedade Recreativo at the bottom of the hill from the village of Figuiras. It is approximately 12kms, therefore 2 3/4 hours, although it is long there are not many hills. We start the walk by the side of the river and then walk at the side of a levada. Then we head out into the countryside, cross a small river and cut through the pretty village of Poio. Towards the end we head through the village of Figueiras then it is downhill back to the cars. There is a short vertiginous stretch uphill, but this can be avoided if necessary and there is uneven ground at the side of the levada, and a short scramble near a pig farm. There are some stretches walking on tarmac. This is a grade 3, medium.The usual rules apply: wear suitable footwear and clothing and bring a drink, poles if you have them. There is no charge and you walk at your own risk. For those wishing to stay for lunch we will go to Cafe Tic Tac across the other side of the N125. They do a set menu within the 10 euros budget. It is also open for coffee from 9.00am.

Meeting time: 10:00am Directions: Drive West along the N125 past the Alvor turning and the Penina Golf, after approximately 2kms go under a footbridge and immediately turn right into Figueiras at the sign "Polidisportivo". Ignore the first sign for Figuriras. Park just past the Cafe Sociedade Recreativo Figuerense. Linda and Russell will be leading this walk whilst Geoff is away in the UK.
