8th JUNE: POCO BARRETO
8th JUNE: POCO BARRETO
This is the walk that was planned for the 17th March, pre the lockdown. It is a simple walk through the Silves Orange Groves but approaching it from another direction. It was last done by CVO Ramblers about 5 yrs ago and is well worth reprising.
It is only about 1hr 40mins and is level(ish) in some lovely countryside, starting and ending at a nice cafe. The shorter distance may be welcome in the current heat.
Driving from CVO to Silves, do NOT go over the bridge but continue up the hill with the Hotel Colina dos Mouros on your left.
After 3.7km, fork left where the road divides, in direction of Algoz.
After a further 2km ( 5.7km from the Silves bridge) you will be in Poco Barreto, at the railway station. Park by station on right at end of village, opposite Cafe Snack-bar Europa. Do NOT go over level crossing.
Meet at 9.30am. Stout trainers or walking boots recommended.
No lunch planned as yet and we will decide on the post walk beers where to go.
Names as usual for walk.
We need to travel there in separate ‘family group’ cars
We need to observe social distancing throughout the walk
We are all liable for our own actions on going on the walk
Do not attend if you, or anyone you know, has, or has had, the virus
We can now walk with more than 10!

May I put my name down with my dog Pixie
Re: 8th JUNE: POCO BARRETO
Sue & Steve with our dog Mia please.
Re: 8th JUNE: POCO BARRETO
Seventeen of us ventured out for this short walk from Poco Barreto:
Sue & Steve (+Mia), Martin (+pixie), Mags (+Bertie), Mike, Paul & Janette, Linda & Russell, Steve & Wendy, Gordon and Sandy, George & Ails and Willie & Carol.
It was just on 1.5hrs and 6km and most people appreciated the shortened distance. If we do this again as a CVO walk then we will need to add in a few of Geoff's loops!
Eight of us then retired to Vimar in Cvo for a really nice lunch.
