WALK - MONDAY 21 APRIL 2025 - CISTUS VALLEYL -CLOSED

Post by Linda and Russell »

Linda and Russell will be leading this walk in a beautiful hidden valley with lots of baragems and an abundance of cistus and other wild flowers. It is 8 kms, just over two hours. There are two gradual uphills and the rest is reasonably flatish with a short section on an overgrown path. There are 4 water crossings which can be crossed on stepping stones but there could also be a large puddle and we could get wet feet. Usual rules apply: wear suitable footwear, bring a pole if you use one, bring a drink, walk at your own risk and no charge.
Meeting point: Cafe Andre at Alcalar. Meeting time: 9.45am. Then we drive a few kms to the start of the walk.
Directions to the cafe: Go West along N125, just after Alvor turning and Penina Golf turn right onto M532. Follow this road passing under a small tunnel and over the motorway bridge. After a few kms the cafe is on the left and parking just opposite. Please indicate below if you are joining us. We can go for lunch at O Tasco after for the set menu. Numbers limited to 16 walkers due to limited parking.
Contact on the day is: 0044 796 0552618.

An Adventurous but fun day today. We had to divert the walk twice, once due to an irate man in his truck who didn't want us to walk up a path near the house he was renovating. So we did the walk in reverse and cut onto some tarmac at the end to avoid passing the mans house. The second diversion involved walking higher up the valley to avoid the flooded footpath. The river crossings were all passable on the stepping stones and a little help from the walking poles.
