WALK-MONDAY 5 OCTOBER 2026 - FIGUEIRA CORK FOREST

Linda and Russell will be leading this walk. We head up through the pretty village of Figueira, through the Cork forest and out into the countryside via the orange groves. Then we loop back passing lots of grapevines, and ruined farmhouses. We head back via a cafe in the village where we can stop for refreshments before heading back to the cars via the river bank. The walk is around 8 kms, 2 hours and not too difficult. Please wear suitable footwear, bring a drink, no charge. We may have lunch at a restaurant near by after the walk.

Meeting time 9.30am. Meeting point: Sociedade de Figuerense, Figueira. Directions: Drive west along the N125, pass the Alvor turning and Penina Golf. About 2kms further along go under a footbridge and immediately turn right at the sign: "Polidisportivo". Park just after the social club entrance. There is no cafe at the start of the walk. It is National day on 5 October a big bank holiday. The hunters will be out so I have changed the walk to Figueira as it is not a hunting area.

Hi Linda, is the walk scheduled for Monday or Tuesday? Monday is the 5th. I didn’t note whether the date had changed as well as the walk.
