Walk : Monday 2 November 2026. Honey Cafe/O Tasco

Post by Geoff »

We will be back! Knee permitting, should be able to do this walk that I couldn't in June! Posting details early as busy next week.

It’s around 2 hours with a couple of hills but nothing too difficult.

Start time: 10.00am prompt so arrive early if you want a coffee.

Directions: From Lagoa, coming from CVO, turn left on the N125 and go past the turn-off for Alvor. After a few hundred yards, there is a BP station on your right and a road signposted " Senhora do Verde, Vidigal, Casais, Alcalar, Torre" : turn right here. IF you go past the Hotal Penina on your left, you have gone too far
Go up this road ( M532). After going through a single lane tunnel and after about another 1/4 mile, make sure you follow the road bending left signed Alcalar ; do NOT go straight on.
You should then soon be crossing the motorway. Carry on, passing A Taberna Nicola cafe on your right, and Cafe Andre a bit later on your left. Carry on past O Tasco, on the left. Just past O Tasco, bear left and follow the Monchique sign. About 5 minutes after O Tasco, you will see a building on the right that used to be a cafe : bear left here ( signposted Montes de Cima, Marmalete, Casais ) and drive on for about 3kms till you get to Montes de Cima. Follow the road round to the right to the cafe Taberna da Manel ( Honey cafe) ; park opposite, or a bit further up the road. Please do not park just outside the cafe.

Map reference : 37.241448, -8.611435

Usual rules: wear suitable footwear, a hat, bring water, a pole if you use one, walk at your own risk and no charge.

Optional lunch after is at O Tasco, where the usual Monday fare is either chicken piri piri or prawn omlette....I will get confirmation.

Please advise if coming as numbers will be limited to 20 and please say if you want to book for lunch. Any questions pse ask. contact number on day is (+44) 07793 021 549 or email.

Hi Geoff I will be coming out to carvoeiro for a week on my own as Ken is still unable to travel. I would like to join you for the walk and lunch but unfortunately won't have transport to get there. If someone is willing to pick me up from Monte Santo I would be most grateful.
Thanks Sue
