Degree of difficulty ( scale 1 to 5 ) : 2 Moderate...some say borderline 2.5!

A variant on a walk we have done a few times : a steady incline through a forest, then a nice gentle downhill slope to the barragem and a flat walk back along the lavada. There is one stretch ( about 50m) along a narrow trail through some scrub, so you might prefer not to wear shorts!

Some may recall that we did this in November (2013) but we will ignore the ascent to the trig point , so time should be just under 2.5 hours.

Directions:From CVO, go over Silves bridge and right on N124 for about 4.9kms, driving past 2 cafes, one called " Casa de Pasta a Norinha" and one " Taberna da Norinha" , both on the left hand side of the road.

Turn left at a sign saying " Pedreira , Pinheiro e Garrado" and drive 0.4kms : turn left and meet at Cafe Retiro dos Pescadores. Please do not park right in front of the cafe : there is limited parking on the opposite side of the road, but best to park after you turn off the N124 but before you actually turn left.

NB Do NOT turn left on N124 at the earlier sign saying just " Pinheiro e Garrado" , which is before the 2 cafes.

Co-ordinates; N37.214343, W8.394780

Start :10.00 am.

Wear stout trainers/walking boots....a walking pole would be useful. Sunhats hopefully recommended, but some wet weather gear might come in handy.

Please note that the walk will be cancelled of the weather is poor. I shall put a note on this website at about 0830 that morning, 0900 at the latest.

All walks at your own risk.
There is no charge.
Please indicate below if you are intending to come.

Any questions, ring 282 380015, before 0900 or after 6pm after 29 October 2015.

As we now have 20 people, walk is closed.

A great day for walking, nice and sunny, blue skies , not too hot with a hint of breeze.

Track was dry until we got to the one water obstacle, which most navigated with care;

Though Bruce demonstrated the benefit of walking shoes sans socks by carrying Julia!

But when we got to the barragem, it was empty :

though we still had a group photo....

Return along the lavada was uneventful apart from one smelly and drowned fox and a goose with ( it appeared) a broken wing. Back to the cafe of the Retiring Fishermen for a well earned drink. Some then went for a good Prato de Dia at Mia Rosa :

A great walk and at 2 h 20 m, something of a record!
