Walk 7 December 2015 : Isle de Rosario
Posted: Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:19 pm
Hi all
We are going back to the grey UK but Linda and Russell have volunteered to lead a walk by the confluence of the Arade and the Odelouca...the Mira Rio Cafe/Restaurant does a good €8 Prato de Dia for those who want lunch after! Hence I am posting these details on their behalf.
Degree of difficulty: 2, Moderate.......if they go over the top, 1, easy, if they go round the side.
Around the Ilha do Rosario , beautiful views of the river confluence of the Arade and the Odelouca. It should take about 2 hours & is easy(ish)......nearly all flat but there is a gentle hill to climb, if they go over the centre. Distance about 9km or 5 miles. It is similar to the "Sunflower Landscapes" walk or the Julie Stratham walk , but Russell & Linda may cut across the centre of the "island" to get magnificent views.
Directions: from CVO , cross the bridge into Silves & turn left on the R124towards Montchique/Portimao. After a little under 5 km you will see the Mira Rio cafe & restaurant on your left after a sharpish right hand bend. Parking is at the cafe , which is handy for a drink after!
Start at 1000.
Stout trainers/boots & a bottle of water suggested! Take your binoculars if you are a bird watcher. A walking pole is certainly useful......if the weather changes, bring some wet weather gear but I expect they won't be walking if it's really wet!
Any cancellation notice will be posted by 0830/0900 on the day.
No charge of course.
All walks are at your own risk.
Please indicate below if you can come.
Any queries to Linda & Russell or Helen ( see walk 30 November for their details).
Have fun!
Geoff
