An almost new walk.....whereas many have walked to the old ruined farmhouse after the Silves Windmill, and some may recall the eucalytos forest walk of yore ( last time in 2013!), this walk is about 60% along new tracks.

There is a section over grass, but most is on well defined tracks, with a number of steepish, but short , ups and downs.

Degree of Difficulty ( scale 1:5 ) : 3 Energetic

Start:10.00 am

Directions : Drive to Silves, go over bridge and turn left on N124. After about 1km, you will pass the Continente suprmarket on the right hand side. Drive another 400m and turn right, almost doubling back on yourself.
Drive straight on for about 800 m ( going past the prison, the big white block on the left with barbed wire) and park in the Jardim do Largo da Republico, or nearby.
There are 3 coffee shops nearby, Cafe Jardin is where we will meet.

Usual caveats: all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain.....I will endevour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.

Walking boots/stout trainers , walking pole(s), hats and water recommended. No charge, of course.

Hi Geoff, we are planning to go to the Estuary on Monday to see some birds before they leave and this will be a flat walk so will save our knees for skiing. Have a good walk, we will see you on our return.

14 set off...Cafe Jardin was closed today/tomorrow, but the other one on the square did a good early morning coffee.

The new route up to the old farmhouse seemed to work very well, even if there was a bit of huffing and puffing on the hills. Weather was very cloudy but mild.

Total time 2 h 25 mins. 11 of us then retired to the Mira Rio for a beer , fortunately in bright sunshine, followed by the usual excellent prata de dia for 7.5€.

Richard & Gerry were feeling a bit adventurous after lunch and wanted to do the Isle Rosario walk....over the top version....Linda, Russell & I kept them company. We met up with Tony & ???? from Bergerac who were getting a bit lost with the Julie Staham book version of the walk, so decided to come with us...potential walkers next year!
