We haven't done this walk from this starting point since New tear's Eve 2011!!...hope I can remember it.

This approach should be dry , no streams to wade across, nice walk by the lavada but a bit of tarmac. The approach to the windmill is, not surprisingly, steep, but affords great views.

Duration is about 2 h 30 m, just under 10km. We do stop & admire the views when getting a bit out of breath!

Degree of difficulty (scale 1to 5 ) : 3 energetic

Walking boots or stout trainers are recommended, along with walking poles.....and a hat and water...but bring some wet weather gear in any case!

Please note that the walk will be cancelled of the weather is poor. I shall put a note on this website at about 0830 that morning, 0900 at the latest.

Directions:From CVO, go to Silves and cross the bridge.

Turn right on the N124 .

At the roundabout, take the second exit , going towards the castle, passing the cemetery on the right hand side.

Drive to end of road , turn right by the Mini-Preco supermarket, and park in the big carpark.

Meet for coffee at either the Mini-Preco or the cafe opposite the Pastelario Castelo....haven't tried the former, and haven't been to the latter for years!

Slight change in plans...as Sue no longer going back to snowy UK ( flight cancelled) she'll be here on 19 March : due to numbers, expect lunch will be at Mia Rio, about 10 mins drive away.

Geoff, I confirm our friends are no longer coming out so this frees up two spaces on the walk.

The vanguard of Willie, Rod and Dan , on their lads' walk last week reported the Enxerim river in spate.....we checked it yesterday and it's still impassable : without donning swimming cosies anyway.

We'll meet and eat as arranged, but if it's still too deep on monday, we'll do the Enxerim walk which does include a longish steep hill.

After the recent rains, not only is the river impassable, but my spies tell me the puddles on the Enxerim walk are huge.

Hence, we will revert to doing the windmill walk, but from a different start point. See amended first posting.
