WALK - MONDAY 10 JANUARY 2022 - OURIQUE BARAGEM

[Linda and Russell]

Linda and Russell will be leading this walk. The walk is only 8 kms, all on good tracks with no water crossings and no brambles. We will head out into a deserted valley with a lake and old ruins. There should be good views up into the hills.

Degree of Difficulty : It is a grade 4 due to the number of ups and downs. It is one of those walks where you feel there are more ups than downs. The usual rules apply, walk at your own risk, bring water and a pole if you use one, no charge.

Meeting Point: Restaurant Ourique. Start time 10.00am.
The cafe should be open for coffees before the start. They also do a very good set menu for 9 euros for anyone who wishes to stay for lunch after the walk.

Directions: Drive along the N125 to the the Portimao/Monchique exit and follow the N124 directions Monchique/Silves. At the roundabouts keep right and follow the signs for Silves. The restaurant is on the right side of the road on a sharp bend before Odelouca. Please park just before the restaurant.

Alternatively, drive to Silves, over the bridge, turn left and drive on the N124 for 10km, the restaurant will be on your left.

The small few who stayed for lunch had a very enjoyable lunch outside in the sunshine.

Perfect walking weather and everyone still looked refreshed near the end, especially Zac the dog.
