WALK -MONDAY 7 MARCH 2022 - LAGOA - CLOSED

Post by Linda and Russell »

Linda and Russell will be leading this walk. The walk starts from Restaurant Barca Velha, opposite the Fatacil in Lagoa. It is 11kms, therefore 2 1/2hours, although it is long there are not many hills, so it is a grade 3 due to the length. We head out of Lagoa along dirt tracks and out into the countryside. We pass deserted farm houses and eventually out into open countryside. We have to cross the N125 and go under the A22 but we also walk pass lots of orange groves and enjoy views of the open countryside. We then walk along a long stretch of levada and head back to Lagoa. The usual rules apply: wear suitable footwear and clothing, bring a drink. There is no charge and you walk at your own risk. The Restaurant is not open for the start of the walk but will be open for drinks after the walk. We may have lunch at the Fatacil restaurant after the walk.

Meeting time: 10:00am Directions: At Lagoa join the N125 and head East, at the roundabout( fish in a net) as you leave Lagoa take the right turn. The Restaurant Barca Velha is on the left in a row of shops and the Fatacil is on the right hand side. There are parking spaces nearby. Address: R. do Parque Empresarial do Algarve Loja 9, 8400-431 Lagoa. Our contact on the day is: 0044 796 0552618. Please indicate below if you are joining us for the walk as numbers will be limited to 20 people.

The walk took around 2 1/2 hours and was just short of 10kms. One of the paths was chained off but Russell found a diversion.

Russell would like to thank (they know who they are) those who watched his back, made sure he didn't get anyone lost and caught him when he stumbled. Thank you. Eleven stayed for a very sociable lunch at the Fatacil. Meatballs were the favourite this week.
