Walk 25 November 2025 : Honey Cafe/O Tasco. CLOSED
Posted: Mon Nov 18, 2024 7:04 pm
Walk is now closed.
Unfortunately (?) can't now do the first hilly section as it's cordoned off. It's still a very pleasant 2+hour walk which we will do in opposite direction for a change....if I remember !
Fortunately, the Honey Cafe is now open on a monday!
Start : 1000....but 0945 of you want a coffee & to order lunch.
Degree of difficulty ( scale 1:5) : probably 2 now, not so energetic
Lunch:this is optional, but we will be going back to O Tasco , an old favourite. The standard Prata de Dia there is now 12€ but only includes a limited choice of main dish. With tip expect to pay about 13€ or 14€ pp.
The lady did say it would be frango assado or prawn omelette and she would like to know numbers in advance, so please let me know before the walk commences.
Directions: From Lagoa, coming from CVO, turn left on the N125 and go past the turn-off for Alvor. After a few hundred yards, there is a BP station on your right and a road signposted " Senhora do Verde, Vidigal, Casais, Alcalar, Torre" : turn right here. IF you go past the Hotal Penina on your left, you have gone too far
Go up this road ( M532). After going through a single lane tunnel and after about another 1/4 mile, make sure you follow the road bending left signed Alcalar ; do NOT go straight on.
You should then soon be crossing the motorway. Carry on, passing A Taberna Nicola cafe on your right, and Cafe Andre a bit later on your left. Carry on past O Tasco, on the left. Just past O Tasco, bear left and follow the Monchique sign. About 5 minutes after O Tasco, you will see a building on the right that used to be a cafe : bear left here ( signposted Montes de Cima, Marmalete, Casais ) and drive on for about 3kms till you get to Montes de Cima. Follow the road round to the right to the cafe Taberna da Manel ( Honey cafe) ; park opposite, or a bit further up the road. Please do not park just outside the cafe.
Map reference : 37.241448, -8.611435
Usual caveats: all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain.....I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0800 on the day of the walk.
Walking boots/stout trainers , walking pole(s), hats and water recommended. No charge, of course.
Please also advise if you change your mind about coming, as there may be a waiting list.
Any questions , please ask .
Numbers will be limited to 20, so it is essential to respond below if you want to come. Please also state whether you will want lunch .
