Nice walks

Does anyone know of any nice scenic walks around town,we've done the one along the cliffs by the church,and the one up by Clube Atlantico,what are other peoples' favourite ones?.We'd love to try a few different ones and it's a wonderful way to spend a half hour or so before that first cold beer of the day!!

I love the Roch Brava lighthouse area Janet...and also the other side of Benagil... on the cliffs a large area of 'wilderness'..which is very pleasant.ellie

Another cliff walk is one going West from O Boteca restaurant for as far as you like. For a circular walk you can chicken out at the first gorge if the beer beckons by walking inland - you'll come out in Carvoeiro Club (CC) territory, turn right back up the hill to get to Monte Carvoeiro and back into town. Probably about an hour altogether, depending on how fast you walk/climb. Or .... you can keep going - lots of ups and downs - it takes about 1 1/2 to reach the small fort that you can see in the distance - but the scenery is fantastic. I cheat and drive to a small cul-de-sac just above CC then walk from there !

Speaking of walking....can anyone tell me how far it is (mileage wise) from between Cepsa station & Intermarche into CVO please?
Im going to have to use my legs during my stay..and this is distance I will be doing each day...as I wont be driving!
Don't know exact place....its Port.farmhouse situated between Cepsa&Intermarche

Hi Ellie, if you know the turning left just past the Intermarche towards Poco Partida/Salicos - Restaurant Edra is on the corner - it is one mile from that point into Carvoeiro. Sounds like you need a bike to me!

I don't yet know exact location..Im being picked up by person Im staying with so I won't know till I get there(yes..sounds barmy I know).
All I do know is its past the gas/petrol station as you come out of CVO..on the left, between that and intermarche.?
I think the directions youve given are more towards Lagoa?
I know distance between Lagoa&CVO is 5 kilometres (about 2& half miles?) and I did walk that some times, in the past.
Im ok with a mile walk as I do this here and I can get cab back.
Il have to find out more today!

I've got a book called: "Algarve - Let's Walk" by Julie Statham
ISBN 972 - 8044 -25 - 9
No mention of cvo, but details on 20 different walks (that reminds me of a Python sketch!)

Julie organises regular walks along the algarve, usually on Saturday and Monday I think. Details of where to meet and what kind of walk can be found in the Algarve Resident each week.

We have been on one of Julie's walks - it was around Paderne. Very enjoyable and would recommend to anyone to go on one. However, when we arrived and saw all the 'older' and probably retired fellow walkers, we expected a leisurely stroll. We consider ourselves to be quite fit, but we struggled to keep up!!!!! Roll on retirement!!
