Carvoeiro.com weather cam confusion

Post by pamf »

We're heading to Carvoeiro this thursday and I've become rather obsessed with the web cam link! However, I'm a bit confused about the temperatures shown on the weather cam. :? For example, this morning the temperature read 34.5degC but in the picture I could only see people wearing trousers and waterproof jackets.! Are the temperatures really that hot or am I missing something?

Hi, I am sure I will be corrected if I get this wrong, but, the thermometer used for the temps on the weather cam are set on the wall of the ice cream shop, in the corner of the square, set well away from wind etc. so the temperature is all ways much higher than the real temp. Has been wet and windy but is said to be getting better again within the next few days. :D

Thanks Lesley Jean, that makes sense about the temperature sensor. Also it's good to hear that the weather is on the rise again! 8)

Best bet on temps is www.weather.com and dig up Faro. They update roughly every hour and add 2c to the tempreture to allow for a more local variation. Carvoeiro is normally at least 2 above Faro. The web cam temps are very misleading and Steen says it's going to be fixed but needs new equipment. Saying that this was about 6 months ago. Mike
