"recibos verdes"
Hi,
does anybody have experience using "recibos verdes" for e.g. maids salaries?
What is their purpose, how are they used? What about the new electronic version?
Are they needed to pay the social security for the employee?
Thanks for any information!

Re: "recibos verdes"
From my understanding it is your employee who has to provide these as proof of payment from you for work done.

My maid says she doesn't want to fill out any green receipts any more.
Do I risk anything if she doens't do it? Or is it only her own risk?

If she fills them out, she has to submit them to the employment bureau and then pays tax, NC's etc. cant think why she doesnt want to do it

A new on line submission of green receipts started this year.
Have a look here, it may help.

I think your maid now has to provide you with an electronic receipt, whatever that may be.
May be worth asking your accountant for advice on how you account for what you pay her if you do not receive any receipt.

From the few replies to my post I take it that hardly anybody is using the green receipts...

Re: "recibos verdes"
A lot of people are scratching their heads at the system the govt has set up for green reciepts.
Given that not every person has access to an internet connection or even ability to use a PC, forcing the green reciept system "online" makes you wonder what kind of geniuses are currently responsible for approving laws like that.
It's not just the problem with the reciepts though, even every pensioner now has to submit an income decalartion on line. As if a tax declaration wasn't complicated enough to fill in on paper, now people who in some cases didn't even own a television their entire life have to learn how to use a PC.
Portugal today may be on the front line when it comes to connecting households and schools to the internet, but it also feels like they are trying to sweep the illiteracy and technophobia of an entire generation that grew up in a fascist regime and did not have the luxury of a proper education under the rug.
