Walk Monday 17 January : Norinho/Enxerim
Walk Monday 17 January : Norinho/Enxerim
Our first walk of 2022, and an old favourite : though the walk back needs to be along a bit of road, unfortunately, as our usual walk down is now blocked off!
It's flat along the lavada to start, has 5 minutes of back road and then is all on country tracks, many of them uphill but with quite a long climb in the early stages,(about ten/fifteen minutes) up some scree, and is quite steep in places, but after that the paths are good and there is a gentle descent, along with some lovely views....if It's too hot, we''ll take the shady alternative!
Duration : previously 2h 40m.....10.2km, 332m ascent
I understand that Luis has recovered from his covid and the cafe is open again. If people want to stay for lunch, then the cafe has been tried and recommended : menu and size is limited but they do a good grilled meat or fish prata de dia. Optional lunch price is 8.5€ for chicken/pork/Carapau/chicken with chick peas but 12.5€ for Dorada......so , with tip, expect to pay 10€ for meat, about 14€ for dorada. Any change will go into the charity pot.
Degree of Difficulty ( scale 1:5 ) : the steep climb makes that part a grade 4 ( strenuous) but the rest is overall grade 2 or 2.5.
Start: 10.00 .....but please arrive by 0945 if you want a coffee/order lunch.
Directions : drive from Carvoeiro to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 3.2 kms until you see Cafe Casa de Pasto a Norinho on your left : park in layby opposite.
GPS : 37°12'20.6"N, 8°24'38.0"W
37.2057131N 8.4116553,312W
It is ESSENTIAL that you indicate below if you can come and whether you want lunch, as numbers for walk will be limited to 20
Walking boots/stout trainers recommended and walking poles.
Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain...no charge, of course...I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.
Any questions , please ask (or ring 282 380015 preferably between 1800-1900 or 8am to 9am ...but not before 13 January).

Re: Walk Monday 17 January : Norinho/Enxerim
A lovely day , 15 for walk, 12 for lunch....a few moans about the steep hill...
But all made it:
and a select few climbed up to the trig point: The bulldozers had been active up there, with many of the tracks looking quite different, but we managed to not get lost. Back for a well earned beer via the new route back, and the usually good lunch from Luis......though a bit pricier at 10€ for meat and 2€ for a pudding! Still, Willie enjoyed the wine.... and a good time had by all:
10.4kms, 2h45mins ( 2h 24m walking), 207m ascent.
Track is at :
