I am hoping to travel to CVO week commencing 12 February 2005 as it is the school half term. We cannot take the children out of school as it is exam year for one of them but the airfare charged is extortinate. If I go either side of half term the fare is 25% of that during half term.
Easy jet should be reported to the trading standards

as they bill themselves as the low cost airline but are not...BA is even cheaper....does anyone know of a place where we can get a good deal?

I have looked at Monarch etc but even these rip you off at school holiday times.

No, it is outrageous the way they hike prices up in school holidays. Trouble is they have a captive market and they know it.Piglet

Our daughter and 2 children had the same problem for the autumn half term just gone.
Cheapest charter flight from any airport to Faro was £625 leaving at some godforsaken hour.
I booked through www.opodo.co.uk TAP flights to Lisbon at good times,free drinks,meal and comfortable seats for £225 !!
It is an easy drive of 2.5 hours from Lisbon to Faro.
Worth thinking about ?

I don't agree with the comments that it is outrageous or a rip-off to charge higher prices in the school holidays. Surely it is a case of supply and demand and it is the case that some low cost airlines are losing money so it is not a case of profiteering. Perhaps we should all pay higher prices outside of the school holidays, then there would not be such a disparity of fares and the airlines would be better off financially. Somehow I don't think that would be very popular though. Dave.

Demand and supply is a wonderful thing, and long may it continue... however, I am looking at bringing my family plus a disabled friend and her Mother next Whit - quoted price was £2,400 for the six, or £700 if we do not return until the Monday - one extra day - unfortunately this means taking the children out of school for 1 day, which I do not agree with, but for £1700 saving my conscience is having a bit of a problem.

Quite agree with you Graham - it is a ridiculous difference, which reinforces my point that if the fares were higher the rest of the year there wouldn't need to be that difference. Touble is we want low prices, good service and airlines to not go out of business.
With regard to taking children out of school, which I am very much against, it is not surprising many parents do, with that sort of temptation.

My beef is this - if buses, trains, theatres, museums etc etc etc can offer discounts for OAPs, why can't the airlines
