As we are [still] hoping to retire to Carvoeiro in a few months time I wonder if anyone could advise us regarding private health insurance in Portugal.

I use a company which specialize in providing insurance for ex-pats in Spain and Portugal. They are called Exeter, far cheaper than BUPA. I will post contact details for them. The premium you pay on joining does not rise with age.

They are called Exeter Friendly Society. You can contact them on (00 44) 01342 353500 or try their website www.exeterfriendly.co.uk Ask for details on Euro Interplan, private medical insurance. Good luck.
