Child's car seat hire
Anyone know where we can hire a childs car seat for 10 days - must be the mid size group1-3. Its £20 to bring one out on Ryanair so figure we must be able to hire for a lot less??
Re: Child's car seat hire
We hired a car from Algarve Driver as we always do and when our Grandson came
out with us they provided a car seat free.

Re: Child's car seat hire
Thanks info re littel rascals - however they seem quite expensive. They want €25 pw for a childs car seat. We can bring our own on Ryanair for £20 and are staying for 2 weeks!
Will keep it for reference though.

Yes, I also thought it a bit expensive. I presume they replace items frequently.
BTW, are you sure that the Ryanair cost isn't £20 each way ?!!
OK, still cheaper than €50....

Hi Maccasa,
I hate to be the bearer to bad news but the majority of car hire companies charge about 5 euros a day for the child seat - so 70 euros for your 2 weeks. It is most likely going to be cheaper to bring out your own, plus you will have the added reassurance of knowing that it fits your little one properly.

Avo,
Suggest you re-read MaisieK's earlier post.
Perhaps you are using the wrong car rental companies

Re: Child's car seat hire
e-richard - algarve driver may well offer child seats free but Avis charge 10 euros per day, Hetz is £51 per rental, Economy is 3 euros a day. I was just saying that the majority of car hire companies charge... but clearly not all!!!!

Re: Child's car seat hire
The most annoying thing about tis is thta we have a car seat in CVO, however it is for 3 yr old and evidently cannot be used for a 2 yr old - It is clealry bigger, but looking at it the fixing is ht esame and the 3 strap harness is the same - I cant see why it cant be used - this group 1-2-3 thing seems very much like a sales gimmik.
Re: Child's car seat hire
SOme of the car rental companies that used to be free are now charging. THey sometimes give the booster seat free, but a proper harnessed seat is usually chargeable. FOr the sake of the money involved, I would bring your own with you. You would never forgive yourself if, for the sake of £20 (or £20 each way) there was an accident of some sort.
When you get to the booster seat stage you can buy blow up ones which work fine - these are also useful to take to theatres/football matches etc.

Re: Child's car seat hire
When my daughter visited us last year with her four daughters including a two year old we bought a car seat from the charity shop in the village - for 5 euros. We intended to return it after the visit, but decided to keep it and now hope that it will still be OK for their visit this year.

Easy jet and British Airways let you bring prams and carseat for free and is not included in any luggage allowance.
Cheers
