Unusual BBQ recipes

Post by Gary/Gaynor »

Good morning CVO

Does anyone have some unusual/different BBQ recipes

Well here is my one and it involves the humble leek !!

You need to make up some dips garlic/cheese/mayonase etc served in medium sized bowls.

grab a handle full of leeks and place on BBQ cook for about 10 mins until burnt on the outside and test soft on inside with a fork. Peel off burnt wrapping with fingers dip in sauce and hey presto real good starter. Can be a bit messy but it tastes great and is easy and good fun. Even if you are not keen on leeks give this one a go !!

As they say from where I live LEKKER !!

I suppose this should be in the food section but what the heck.

Tot ziens

Try this:
Wrap a fish in The Sunday Times (or other sizable worthless journal with dozens of pages) tie tight with string and place in a bucket of water for a few minutes to give the paper a good soaking. Place it on bbq (after the flames have died down) and leave for as long as it takes! (eg 30-40 minutes for a salmon?)
wicked :P

……and the humble potato…
put parboiled potatoes in a bowl with whole flattened garlic cloves and chopped parsley (optional); add a generous sprinkling of olive oil, pinch of salt and mix well; pour out onto bacofoil and wrap into a loose but secure parcel; leave on side of bbq to finish cooking slowly and to keep warm…

Jamie Oliver “The Naked Chef” ……..don’t know if he’s on the tele in your part of the world, but they are his ideas. I have done the fish and potato thing myself and they are good
