New restaurants please.....

Post by Lesley Jean »

 Hiya, as we are going to be out for longer this year for our holiday we are looking to try a few new restaurants>

We like Casa do bife, Maximes, O Cantinho, XicoZi, Chef Antonio, Colombo's, Brasserie Marina, Casa velha do Pescador, O Litoral, Rouxinol and are looking to try Colina village and La Bella Vita.

Can anyone recommend any other? we like good quality restaurants, not too expensive with nice decor. Would be interested in any other suggestions from those in the know.....

Given your list, I'm sure you'd like O Barradas. On the old Lagoa - Silves road near Palmeirinha (sp?). Essentially meat from Northern Portugal, but usually a fish alternative. Don't order chips, but go for their special saute potatoes - superb.

Not sure about "the bend", but its the one with the ranch style gate through which you enter a car park at the rear.

I'll try and find their card and PM you. To the best of my failing memory.....Go into Porches old village area, turn up a narrow street to the right, just off the square.

If you like Chinese, the Jardim Sul on the walking street in Lagoa is our fav. Oasis for ribs but I like their peanut chicken kabob. We agree with you - didn't care for Elle & Ela. Maybe it was an off night and we had heard so much hipe that we were expecting better. Oh, L'Orange is good too!

Our favourite is Tia Ilda - we could happily eat here every night! The setting/view is lovely too! It doesn't really seem to get nuch of a mention on the forum - I've often wondered why?

It's a good location, especially for lunch, but seems to lack something at night, but they do a mega kebab.

The waiter always looks lagubrious as he punches your order into his mini computer.

Id put Tia Ilda in the 2nd tier of Carvoeiro restaurants.

As for Elle & Ella, still very good. Still the best place for that special meal in the village. Far better than the overated L'Orange, but have discovered better places out of town.
