In reply to ktee's original question - how about a complete list of restaurants / bars / cafes with proper directions from the square. Maybe include an area for patrons to include recommendations (or otherwise).

I know there are some restaurants in the Busines section of CVO.com but not many.

I also note that people in the general forum often ask about specific restaurants as well as the helpful hints in the monthly newsletter. But trawling throught the old newsletters / forum entrie can be time consuming.

Anything else?

How about a FAQ section?

Eva, your right and wrong. Yes there is room to amend the rental system but to be frank, most owners post the number of beds available in a villa and it's not like the agencies saying it sleeps 8 when the number of actual beds beds is 6 plus a couple of put u ups! Best ask Steen about this but if you have 4 beds that sleep 8 then thats the answer. The question put regarding a seperate chat room for the chat bit I think is valid as to many of the subjects go off course and end up with personal views which are nothing to do with the subject and I can see where Mike's coming from here. It's a pity Maddi has taken it so to heart as she is a very good forum member and helps where she can. Happy new year everyone, we need one! Richard.

I didn't asked this, think maddi did, but okay she has her answer  I asked about long term renting.....

I didn't mentioned anything about chatting, did I???

But okay seems like a little misunderstanding

Kteee, whilst I respect Papajock's comments, the forum already has two sections about food and restaurants and I think that is sufficient to cover reviews and recommendations. I agree though that it would be nice if some CVO restaurants would use this forum for advertising although I guess that is a different thing (i.e. drumming up advertising revenue from around CVO).

I totally agree with Cowboy that the forum and/or the front page definately needs a FAQ, I didn't suggest that when you asked the question, on the grounds that I have been banging on about having one for the last year and had assumed that it had either been vetoed for whatever reason or was in the process of being devised (You could get the forum users to chant the first five FAQs as we must all know them by heart).

I am happy to accept Richard's explanation about the rental section in so far as he states that the area I commented is fine as it is. However I find it particularly annoying that I have to trawl through every detail of every villa/apartment to find out how many a place sleeps, especially when you are looking for an odd number (e.g. 4 adults, three kids may only require a good three bed rather than a more expensive four bed). But this is only my view.

I would also like to see rental advertisers chased up to ensure their availability is kept up-to-date (although thanks to Steen following me making this point on a previous occasion, this does appear to have improved).

I personally see nothing wrong with some topics in the general discussion area going off topic and becoming banter - for the most part the topics that descend into banter are started as something unconnected to CVO per se (e.g. films, christmas, diet, etc). Only very rarely does a subject go off topic without the original question being answered and when it does you will find that it is not the women who cause it to do so.

These are my views for the time being. I am keen that this forum doesn't become so sanitised that it looks like it did in early September.

Dear:- whoever’s in charge around here,

Naughty MC makes sexist remark; girls complain; spectators may yawn but, for me, this is the kind of stuff that makes this forum. That lively mix of (quote maddi) “information sharing, serious debate, light-hearted banter” with those other bits that creep in, make it real. Please don’t attempt to change anything.

Digger, that's why all those "Guest" polls keep saying "let "guests" post".
This sight is "alive", and life, as we all know, gets a little messy at times.
(Still think we need a FAQ section)

Digger and Cowboy

I totally agree :D and unless we continue to allow bigots stuck in some pre 1960's time warp re: women amongst other things, then we cannot keep having the repeated opprtunities they provide us with to educate them.

How about putting a different twist on this post and let's rewrite as such:
How about a "lads only corner" to help us girls "cut to the quick" when we are in a hurry and cut out all the chat from the male members.

I wonder what the response would have been from dear Matti, if any at all???

I don't think it would matter ether way....someone would be offended.
The problem, as I see it, is to seperate the "fourm guests", such as yourself, from the "tourist guests".

The "tourist guests" want to know FAQs and local updates before thier "holls"...and they are the life of CVO.
Give them their own spot on the forum, and only Regesterd members can respond.....

You will find a FAQ section under 'info' on the home page.

Think the most obvious thing missing is a section for the younger users of this forum but realising all the trouble over the innocent question asked by Ryan on another thread then maybe there would be too many concerns - but any information for the teens/kids would be better than none :?:

May everyone be blessed with a Happy & Peaceful New Year 8) 8)

Best bet regarding the villa and apartments is for the actual number of beds in "bedrooms available". Apartments do have camp beds and most of the larger 3 bed villas can take 6 plus cots and or a camp bed. Perhaps the "actual beds within desiginated bedrooms" needs to be stressed. But the idea of a faq appeals but we do have one within the web! Sorry I upset you Maddi, it was only a wind up that for you and a few others went wrong. For you and everybody in Carvoeiro and elsewhere, a very happy new year and it's down to the like of US to make it happen.
