Not good news if you prefer BA to Easyjet
Thank God for skilled pilots. If what I have read in the press is true, 136 people owe their lives to that pilot. A very luck escape.
However, for me the prize for the most professional behaviour in the cockpit still rests with the BA Captain Eric Moody. He was the pilot flying nearby to an erupting volcano in Jakarta when all of four of his engines ingested ash and stopped at 35, 000 feet. He calmly made the following announcement….
“Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking. We have a small problem. All four engines have stopped. We are doing our damnedest to get them going again. I trust you are not in too much distress.”
Thankfully they get he engines fired up and were able to land safely.

Gazza,
I happened to have watched a programme this week concerning your Capt. Moody. Not alone did all 4 engines cut out but whatever effect the ash had it also caused the windscreens to go opaque, added to this the equipment on the ground giving details of the glide scope also were not working, so Capt Moody relied on his 1st Officer to call details of airspeed & height while landing blind!!

WOW......I've just seen the special report on BBC's Watchdog about GB Airways/Easyjet.
Not a nice picture. even though you think you have booked with BA, you haven't. you are booked with GB, and your flight is automatically changed to Easyjet, unless you ask for a refund from BA. But when does the money come back? Straight away? No....when the sale goes through.
The real killer is that if you booked BusinessClass with BA, you dont get a refund of the upgrade from Easyjet. They say that is between the customer and BA. the only way you can get a refund is go for the total refund....whenever that gets paid!
Watchdog advocate taking both airlines to court!
Apparantly BA/GB airways kept selling seats even after the takeover was announced, and didnt warn customers of the situation!
Luckily I bailed out early and got my flights cheaper with the early release of Easyjet, so once I get my refund I will be ahead of the game.
I suspect Im one of a minority.
This really is disgraceful, and does nobody, especially BA, any credit at all.
