TWO KISSES.....WHY

I wonder if anyone knows why it is always expected that when ever you meet a woman in Portugal you know - you have to give them two kisses...why two? and why is that the women dont ever kiss the men?

and another thing..when ever its "mothers day" the shops are full of boxes of chocs and flowers..but when its "fathers day" the display changes to power tools, screwdrivers etc etc

it should be way more than two.

Why dont they ever kiss men? Dunno, may depend on the aftershave.
