Moving to Carvoeiro
Yeah, the plans are to have a gym and spa as well as pools and tennis courts too. We hope that Claudia (our eldest) will decide to come out too, fingers crossed! Maybe we could get them talking over stuff together? Where are you in the UK? Looking forward to your reply.

Sorry been on conferences for the past two days. We live in Lancashire, about 15 miles from Manchester. I will send you a private message with our email address and our daughters may wish to start talking to each other?
Me too!
Hello everyone, its nice to be in a place where we all seem to share the same interests in one way or another. I arrive in the Algarve 8th April 2008 staying in Carvoeiro.
I am a single mum coming over with my 7 year old son for a new way of life, I was there in January 08 and Nov 2007 and fell in love with the place. I have been talking about leaving the UK for years but my 15 year old does'nt want to leave due to friends, school etc and also my friends and family putting doubts in my mind. Well the time has come for me and my ticket is one way! You can imagine the look on my familys face when I mentioned the one way ticket
I am nervous but optimistic, I still have my home to come back to if the worst happens but I feel blessed to have made the decision to suit myself and my son. If I waited any longer it would be harder for him to integrate into a local school. Some may say I am putting him in at the deep end but I do believe thats its better now than never. My daughter who is staying with family when I leave will decide what she wants to do upon leaving school.
Basically I am just here to say if you recieve a post in the near future where I'm crying my eyes out please see with me and give the words of encouragement that I may need. It feels like I am leaving home for the first time and I'm in my early 30's ! I already have job interviews lined up and accomodation booked for the first 2 weeks so I will be on the look out for schools (researching all the time) and as soon as he is in, I can then concentrate on the work side of things. My lap top is coming with if all else fails!
Anyone who has been in the same position as me and would like to offer
advice, it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance Mumof2.

Hi Mumoftwo
I can get onto your wave length very well..although I did move to Algarve with my husband and our youngest son, who was at secondary school when we moved here.
We left behind 2 children, our daughter was in her final year and didn't want to come with us or leave her friends, so she stayed with grandparents, then went onto college. Our oldest lad had gone into the army.
Its difficult leaving home and family and I can understand your feelings but you are doing a very wise thing in keeping your base in UK..something we never did.
I feel sure your son at 7 will be okay after a while, children adapt very easily. I can't give advice on the school front as our son had private education.
Just to add, I think you're very brave in taking this bold step but to me, life is a journey and we sometimes feel the need to take that bold step and change direction,
All the very best of luck to you and your boy and wish you success on the job front too,
cheers!

Hi mumoftwo,
We will be moving sometime in May as we have now agreed a sale on our house and are just going through all the preliminaries. We are moving with our 7 year old daughter, Hollie and our 14 year old wants to stay in the UK until she has finished school.
It would be great to get in touch with you once we move over as we will be able to offer each other support as we will be in the same position being new to the area and leaving a daughter behind.
Drop me a pm and we will keep in touch.
Tony, Anna and Hollie.

Hi Suzie,
We are looking to exchange contracts before the end of April and then completing in the middle of May. Once we have a date then we will have a one way ticket booked too.
I haven't seen the famous football manager yet and can't wait to give him some golf lessons, then he will really know who the 'special one' is.
We will be seeing you ALL soon. Once we have a definite dates I will post them.
Keep Smiling,
Westygolfpro.
