Posh Lunch

Post by TAXMAN »

Where is the best (good food/wine and smart service/ambience) place for a weekday lunch in or around CVO.

Please do not suggest the restaurant with no name on the beach towards Ferragudo - I'm looking for an alternative to there

I would say the one in the square, it has just been refurbished and has a lovely atmosphere at lunch time. Good service and good food, I find it a bit expensive for lunch but for somewhere posh it is great.

O Pato I think it is called.

You forgot the 'I' which is something Pato would never do.

I don't know what it's like now but it used to be very over priced & the food & the service could be very hit & miss.

That would have my vote but would you say it is posh? How about some inverse snobbery?

You know what?....in the last 10 days we ate in several restaurants in and around Carvoeiro. A couple of them expensive by CVO standards.

The best?
The tastiest and most satisfying?
Escondinhio last tuesday lunchtime.
Really good tasty and well cooked food.
Good slurping wine.
The bill for 2 of us?
16Euros...the cost of my steak the night before.

The best kept culinary secret around Carvoeiro....and long may it stay that way

I agree about Escondido, I know some of the 'residents' are not too keen but for a cheap meal at decent quality its hard to beat.

No I wouldn't say Casa Algarvia is "posh" but it was the first place that came to mind that doesn't do the "7euro dish of the day eat as much as you can and get out fast" menu. Not that I knock that, Ponto Do Encontro is great at lunch time, for a quick lunch!

If you don't mind travelling a bit - N125 turn right at the new Porches roundabout towards Armação and then right at the supermarket. A short distance down on the right is a lovely little restaurant. Can't remember the name.

What's the name of the restaurant opposite the Cvo Bar where you can dine outside amongst the trees, I've not been there in twenty years of visiting Cvo, looks a bit spooky :?
