That is generalizing everything a bit, "every" Friday and "always" Sullys seems unfair to the pair of them.
Saturdays are just as good and I think every place that serves alcohol past midnight is fertile ground for testosterone-and-alcohol-fuelled disputes - it is more a question of the "who" rather than the "when" and "where"

fighting at the square
I can see the funny side of the comments but as per a recent posting I made on Sully's I am sad to hear such a situation developing. I travel to to the village 5 times a year and I must say although I don't frequent the square at "all hours" most of the time I have never witnessed a full on brawl down there. When I was down in April I made the point to my travelling companions that it was like a powder keg waiting to go off and that was in the Spring !!! With the change in ownership of Sully's it really has brought a young crowd directly into the square and it is a recipe for disaster during peak season. If they are at it now what will it be like in July/August. Sad and disappointing if you ask me. Its clear to me that if you know whats good for you get yourself and your family out of the square after dark. I never thought I would be saying that about my beloved "real home"

I was out in April and made my usual visit to Sully's on the first night expecting the usual intimate and friendly atmosphere. The music was very loud and there were about 4 people behind the bar in fancy dress singing at the top of their voices and dancing around. It was all good humoured and the other customers seemed to be enjoying themselves. We had one drink and left but only because its not our scene. It was closed for 2 weeks shortly after because of a bereavement in the owners family. I doubt we would have gone back anyway. Which is a great shame because from the sound of things many other frequent visitors feel the same.
I personally will miss my occasional evening pint (or Three) especially on a chilly April evening. Fortunately there are plenty of alternative venues.
If trouble does stem from Sully's on a regular basis I hope it won't be long before the authorities do something about it.
Surely the restaurants in the square will be affected and make their feelings known.

Too true Terry too true. I like you always arrived at the apartment DUMPED my cloths in the bedroom and made my way straight down to Sully's to get all the gossip and enjoy a chat with Maria. I took one look in April and headed back up the road. That said, I hope things don't turn sour and they make a success go of it. They have a prime site and its up to them to make a go of it.
When we were out last week for two weeks we noticed the unrest in the vicinity. There is a younger louder element there, but it does seem pretty controlled at present. There are some elements not good there but you will have to read between the lines as I am unable to say what looks like happening there. It is not the Sulleys of old but changes do happen
Fights in carvoeiro
i've just came back from a well deserved breack in carvoeiro, and i was drinking at sully's most of nights and never saw any signs of fights or even arguments,
i must say sully's has changed since last time i was there, and i must say that i like it very much, the music was perfect, and the staff very friendly!
