Look up www.tripadvisor.co.uk algarve forum and some reviews (not all good unfortunately)

I stayed in Tivoli and it was great. Loads of fantastic privately rented properties available on this site under rentals. If you go for somewhere close to Carvoeiro you will get all the luxury you need and get access to all the restaurants you need.

Thanks for your help. We have a villa booked for a week (6th visit to CVO) but may need a single night in hotel too, just looking at options

I stayed in the Mirachoro for a few days last December and it was fine. It was clean, modern and comfortable. The only thing I didn't like was the breakfast but that was because there were hardly any rooms occupied and one lot of food was cooked for breakfast and left sitting under heated lamps for about 2 hours.

Thanks for previous comments on here. I am going to book Mirachoro for the night - could anyone advise on the best method to book (I have founded it via a few hotel sites but prices/possible company reliability differ a bit)

When I booked my room last December I booked through Easyjet - it was by far the cheapest - this may not apply in the high season though.

I have used both Expedia and travelsupermarket.com - the latter comparing all the prices offered by various companies
