Cafe Des Ingles - Silves

Post by tricky »

I have always loved this place for morning coffee or afternoon tea,
they do the nicest cakes, and its a really pretty place to sit on the terrace on the steps of the castle under the trees.
However this time we tried it for dinner. very busy and although the menu is quite small it is all freshly cooked (no sign of a ping) I had the chicken with tarragon and one of my son's had the suckling pig. very nicely presented and delicious.

Only 8 minutes drive from CVO on new motorway.

I like this place too, I usually go during the day as the views are really nice from the terrace. Have not tried it for dinner but will as soon as August is out of the way. I always take visitors there, out of season it's easy to park & we can wander around the cathedral & castle & then have something to eat at Cafe Ingles, their icecream sundaes look amazing but I've never allowed myself one. There are also a couple of interesting shops down the steps & under the cafe selling all sorts of things from jewellery to wall hangings & leather goods to sharks teeth & fossils.

I love going there at lunchtime. Their pizzas are really nice and huge and the salads and dish of the day are really nice.

Oh and they do a mean banoffee pie!! Yummy.

We love this place for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. With lunch out of the way, we stay on for the live music which starts at 3pm or so. (It is Portugal) :)

One of our favourites for Sunday lunch, too. It's great to sit outdoors in the sun in November or January and think of the folks at home indoors!

I agree with all the previous posts here although Taxwoman and I have only had the great buns and coffee when we have been there. Do they still run a music festival here ?

Had lunch here on Sunday, really good. They had a lovely fire going & the place was buzzing. So many places here in the winter feel very cold & lacking in atmosphere. The only criticism is that the music was very, very loud, our table was one of the furthest away from band & we still had to resort to writing on the tablecloth to communicate with each other. But the music doesn't start until 2 - 2.30 so will just go earlier next time. It's not a problem in the summer because the band is outside.
