PLEASE can you find a home for Daisy

All I have done is help by making her profile very public she has been looked after and loved by friends who would love to do more but have dogs of their own, she is still living in the garden of some UK residents who do not live here.

It would be such a lovely happy ending if she could be found a really good home.......

Have just read the good news about the black kitten finding a good home . What about Daisy - has anyone come forward to offer her a home yet ?
She surely can't live in the garden of the villa indefinately . What will happen to her ?

Daisy is still, as far as I am aware, being looked after by our friend! It would seem that people are more interested in offering homes to puppies and kittens than full grown, albeit lovely natured, dogs and cats.

Not sure what will become of her, but I have no doubt that she will not be shipped off to the knackers yard!

I'll post back if I can get an update!

Official update on Daisy:

Daisy is very well and nearly has all her fur back, however she is still needing a new home. She is due at the vets next week for a check up and there is a possibility that she can be put on to only one tablet a day.

Come on folks there must be someone out there who would love to give Daisy a loving home. If you know of someone, or you would love to look after her yourself, please contact me via PM.

I'm amazed that there has been well over 2,000 viewings of this post and STILL no one has come forward to take her on !!!

I found the little black kitten a home by putting an advert in The News. Admittedly I only had one reply but then it only takes one person to have Daisy.
I wish I could help, I already have two dogs and 7 cats (one of whom refuses to live at home and I go to Palm Gardens twice a day to feed her) There must be someone out there who could give her a home, I'll keep asking as many people as I can, any good putting a message on Radio Lagoa or any other radio station, we have found lost dogs that way in the past. A photo of her at Solvet in Lagoa would be good if it isn't already there so the vet she has been going to for treatment.
Fingers crossed that soon someone will come forward to give her the home she deserves. Good luck Daisy.

A quick update for you all.......

Daisy is looking brilliant. Here she is...you'd hardly believe she is the same dog. Very Happy

She is only on one tablet a day now and the vet says she is doing well. There is a possibility that she could be going to the UK with our friends neighbours, but they are checking on whether they can sort out a pet passport. If all goes to plan she could be in the UK in around 7 months time. Until then, our friend and his friends and family will keep looking after her as best they can. Fingers crossed.

How wonderful to see Daisy looking so well and healthy - completely unrecognisable from the first pictures we saw of her . Well done to all those people who have invested so much time and money into getting her well again !! Its all sounding good for her future too . I hope it all works out for her .
We just returned last week from our holiday in Carvoeiro . We had a good time , yet again ! However I get so distressed at the sight of all those poor dogs and cats running wild it just spoils it for me . I even got told off for feeding a poor thin little kitten some of my lunch as we sat outside of a restaurant !!
Apart from the animals welfare it must also be a public nuisance problem to have all these animals roaming around as strays ! I have been to other countries such as Turkey and even the Caribbean where they were trying to start neutering programmes for the stray cats and dogs. This can be the only way forward to have some sort of control on the problem ... maybe they should try it in Portugal !!
Anyway I wish Daisy of luck for her future !

I agree about the cats for sure, there should be a programme of neutering to stop all the unwanted, poorly creatures you see so often, as you say it is very distressing.
The dogs are a different matter, a lot of them do belong to people but it seems to be the 'norm' to let them out onto the streets during the day while the owners are at work hence you see them wandering around so often but look and see just how many have collars on them..... For the real strays, yes they do need to be 'collected' and neutered and treated before hopefully finding homes for them but with the owners having no regard for their animals I can't see this every working.

Daisy looks beautiful! What a difference from the original photo's. I hope someone gives her a loving home soon.

There are some terrible cases of neglected animal around where we are, it's heartbreaking, one of the main problems is that a lot of the owners just can't afford the ongoing cost of de-fleaing, de-worming etc. the poor animals get eaten alive from the outside & the inside, you can feed these animals all you can but if they're not wormed they won't get any of the nutritional benefit from the food. A lot of the families certainly can't afford to neuter their animals & those that could think it's unnatural. I think the government should launch an education programme via information broadcasts on the care & treatment of animals & discourage people from having animals they can't or won't take of.

blue, I agree with you there should be some kind of education, starting in schools so that each generation might start to treat animals better. Does anyone know is there a licence needed to own animals in Portugal? If not maybe this should happen with all the info about care and neutering being part of it and something like the blue cross, funded by the government, (I know, I can't see that happening either!) to help those who can't afford to treat their animals.
I know that the UK is probably the biggest country that pampers its pets, altho' there is still so much cruelty even now in the UK, but something needs doing. It is not just dogs and cats tho' is it? just take a look at the horses and donkeys used by the farmers.

I'm looking forward to seeing Daisy in December. She looks so well now compared to how she was when our friends first took her in!

It is incredible what a little love and some medical attention can do isn't it?
