Chrissys, Lagoa

Just wondered what other people thought of Chrissys in Lagoa? I've now been there a few times and thought it was very hit & miss. Food in general has been good but I thought the service by the older lady (I prosume Chrissy) was atrocious and at best poor!

This is one restaurant to avoid.
It was reccommended to us a while ago and always interested in finding a new place to eat, we decided to give it a try.
The chef (husband) does a reasonable job, but when trying to place the orders we encountered the dreaded (older lady?) who really was not interested whether we were there or not.
From what we have learn't,she appears to tkink it is below her dignity to "serve" people.
I think she lives in a different world.

What!!!!! This has to be one of the best restaurants in the area!

Its has to be viewed as lifting a French/Belgian country bistro up out of somewhere like Picardy and dropping it into Lagoa.

Chrissy herself can be a bit of an imposing old dragon, but she is lovely if you treat her right. A bit like the wife in 'Ello-'Ello. Because she looks a bit daunting people are intimidated by her, but she is fine. Her husband is an excellent chef, and the food is usually top class.

My problem with Chrissy's is that it is always fully booked by like minded souls, and we cant get a table

(So they must be doing something right!)

Well i suppose thar some people are easily pleased, and are prepared to put up with anything..............
This place is as close to a French/Belgian bistro,particularily the Belgian part,as the Ritz Carlton is to the Carvoeiro Sol.
It is time that this "lady of a certain age"shpuld realise that she is running a restaurant and that customers are King,
She could take lessons from George at the Algor Seco Bistro

We've only been there once, walked in at 9.30pm & out at 9.31pm apparently they had stopped taking orders

. Very french - not. Though the older lady who told us did so in a very french manner.

When you get to know this forum a little better, you will realise that I am far from being somebody who is easily pleased. Far from it. Read some of my restaurant reviews..
We are all different, and that is how it should be. I am sure you will find restaurants that you enjoy and suit you. I for one will be perfectly happy if Chrissys stays as it is....Peroxide dragon et al

Chrissies has been sold to an English couple who live on the ADM, nice people, they're keeping things as they are.

What in every way? We now get an English woman doing a sort of 'allo allo French restaurateur madam do we?

As long as the food is as good, that's all I care about. Unless the husband is a classically trained french chef....we could end up with a Lagoa version of Ma-Jas.....God forbid

I have been told only good things about chrissy's, and can't wait to try the food myself . We have met the wonderful couple Louis and Debbie and im sure they will give you a very warm welcome.They have not changed the cuisine. We wish them every success in there new buissiness .

This joint sure has had a colourfull past, more owners than i,ve had hot dinners.

I,m a sucker for punishment but will certainly give the new owners a chance to prove that things can get better.

Unless it has moved I think Bruces directions as to location are wrong. Chrissys is in the wide part of the road just by the market entrance more or less next to the chapel of rest and amongst the ubiquitous chinese shops!
