A week in Carvoeiro
A week in Carvoeiro
We had a great week in Carvoeiro... and as I have seen a few others do in the past, thought I would give one all round review of the food we sampled...
A Rede - Superb meal. My Dad said his Tuna Salad was the nicest starter he can remember eating. The mail meals were fantastic, and the desserts were great. The most expensive meal we had whilst out there but worth every single penny.
Laterna Valha - Ate here twice - once on my son's 3rd birthday and once on our last night. As always, fantastic food at a reasonable price. Great service and the potatoes are amazing
Ma-Ja's - Went here for evening meal once, "homemade" pie, tasty steak, great sausages and fantastic beef burginon. Think this is a fantastic place for all the family, realy friendly service as always
Barco(I think that's what it's called!) - Had lunch there one day, the food was tasty as always - I am reliably informed the chops are very very tasty (my no-piri-piri chicken was delicious). Firm favourite to sit and watch the world go by....
Irish Times(I think that's what it's called!) - We were on our way to Ma-Ja's and found it was closed... then decide on Fonte... but it wasn't open yet... so we went to the irish bar for a drink, and ended up having tea. Very pleasantly surprised - thought it would do a few snacks but the food was delicious - would definitely go there again
Got takeaway one night from Catz Pyjamas (always delicious) - and the chinese a few doors down (2different tastes in the family
) and must say the food from the chinese was very very good...
Not a restaurant BUT when we had a bbq at our villa used the Blue Rock butcher ... never been there before and the quality of the food was absolutely superb. Very very good - the flavoured(mexican) skewers for kebabs were a great idea and really tasty.
Again not a restaurant but the job the bakery at the Intermarche did on my son's birthday cake was amazing. the most delicious cake, and beautiful for him, with a car and train and trees....

It is so nice to hear some nice positive thoughts as just recently we seem to have had nothing but moans.

Blue Rock Butchers
I definitely agree, Jonathons Blue Rock Butchers meat is superb, everything is always really well laid out, choice is superb and the meat is good quality. His homemade sausages are brill, especially the Pork & Leek mmmm And he also sells accompaniments such as relishes, pickles, mustards etc which are a must with sausages. And he sells stuff from Fumeiro do Algarve so cant be bad!!
We have been coming the Algarve and to Carvoiero for 6 years now, have owned our own apartment there for two years and just love everything about the place and it's many lovely restuarants!! Normally visit 2 to 3 times a year and find the menu's, staff brilliant. Have only had one bad meal in 6 years so no moans from us!!!Lesley Jean wrote:Sounds like you had a great week, your son's birthday cake looks wonderful what a lucky chap and I love the look on his face.
