We often go for a curry in the Indian on the Hill (first night curry, now a tradition) but mainly we like a variety of what the Algarve can offer whehter it be Portuguese, Italian, English whatever takes out fancy we can get in CVO, it's nice that CVO has choices like most European countries have these days. I just liked the Blue Rock steaks, and I think some of his beef came from over the boarder in Spain, shame he chose to go back to the UK. All about personal taste really

One of the negative things about Blue Rock was how little of his meat was scourced in Portugal.
The lad who worked there told us that the lamb and much of the Beef came from Belgium.
They were very proud of the beef as none came from animals over a year old.

Where can we get Lamb on a regular basis ??

The Continente supermarket at Guia has some nice looking legs of lamb in the other day, I know they don't always have a good selection of lamb. We are lucky enought to be close enough to shop at the new Apolonia supermarket in Gale, their butcher counter is exceptional. Unfortunately this Apolonia doesn't have a fresh fish counter as yet. But for everything else you need it's really good & I've done price comparisons on various everyday & household items between Apolonia & the Intermarch supermarket & found Apolonia was often the cheaper of the two.

What is the comparison between Apolonia and Continente or Pau A Sucar.

We only use intermarche for a very few items because of their higher costs.

Well if they were proud of their beef being under one year old it proves it was not of a good standard and had been what is known as 'pushed'.
Good quality grass fed beef will be over one year old and up tp three years old in order to reach a good weight and quality. Of course it has to be hung for at least 21-28 days as well. I am afraid being under one year old for beef is really not a good sign of quality
