Right Flight?

Never travelled Easyjet before(from Stanstead)
Its the closest I can get from here(otherwise it means travelling to Gatwick) for the dates I require......is it okay ? Thank-you.

Stansted is ok. It's a small airport so it's easy.

Wouldn't East Midlands be an option for you?

Not really Thunderbolt.....we have flown from Eastmidlands..but its an easier & straight run to Stanstead (down A1) than drive to Nottingham ,surprisingly.
Is Easyjet ok...i know its pretty basic?...Thanks Ellie

Easyjet are fine Ellie but they are basic as you know. We used to use the Stanstead flights but we have switched to Monarch Scheduled out of Gatwick because of the service level. Their timekeeping is very good and if you buy a sandwich at the airport (Boots) before you go through passport you will be fine. The sandwiches on the plane (if any) are not cheap but there not bad. Have a good trip. Sadly we have to wait until June!! Mike, Chislehurst.

Stansted is fine and so is Easyjet. But there can be queues at the check-in depending on when you, and everyone else, is going. (True of any airport ?) It once took us an hour to get through the check-in and reach the departure lounge via the internal transit train. The low cost operators get the gates furthest away from the main building !

I'm coming out Wednesday with Monarch. The flight is at 7.30am (check in 5.30). Does anyone have experience of the grub served up by Monarch ie: will the breakfast suffice or should we have a top up before we start?

Reply to Jason,
We have flown from Luton several times on Monarch scheduled, found the grub to be ok. Airline meals will never beat a restaurant but you won't go hungry. If you are a growing lad with an humungous appetite you can always pop a Mars Bar in your pack for emergency sugar/energy boost.
Enjoy your trip, I have to wait until June.

Hello Ellie,
Easy Jet also fly from Luton but we have not yet used them. Several friends have gone to other destinations with them and been satisfied,
be interested to hear your thoughts after your journey.

I was wondering about distance from here (near Boston) to Luton...think its possibly nearer than Stanstead?
D'you know it takes us about hour & 15 or 30 mins to get from this village to Stamford and the A1..so its all quite a drive to an airport!

just made brief check on "Routeplanner", Boston to Luton, motorway average 60mph [traffic permitting] 2 hrs 30mins,,,,100miles.
Rough route, Boston to A1, Southbound, come off to A505 at Letchworth to Luton, Airport is signposted as you enter Luton at the Stopsley area.

Ellie, If you decide on Luton, I would suggest you avoid Stamford and use the route: A16 from Boston then turn off to the left and go via Cowbit, Eye and the Peterborough bypass A47(?) thence to the A1 and on to Luton. I’ve used this route regularly over many years and reckon it would take no more than 2 hours Boston to Luton. We’ve used both Monarch and easyJet regularly Luton/Faro/Luton and generally been very happy. Only one delay of more than an hour! (with easyJet last month)

Thank-you for that Brian....will certainly keep a note of that for next time.Never actually driven from here to Stanstead either (only lived here 4 years..and usually its eastmidlands or gatwick)....
it usually takes 3 hours to my son in Tilbury essex....and about 3 3/4 hours into London..on a good day!
To Gatwick..its about 4& half ..as you say..depending on traffic!
D'you know..we have an airport 'just up the road' at Humberside..but theyre very limited .and its mostly flights to Holland ..cant get anything to Portugal!

Thank-you Guest too....i actually booked the flight earlier this evening from Stanstead...now Im thinking..by reading yours & norbris posts ..that i should have chosen Luton!!
I hate the drive from here(we're 12 miles north of Boston....to Stamford ..it takes an eternity...as you may know...its almost all single carriage way in Lincolnshire..and most of the driving disastrous!!
Ill certainly have to try the route you suggest.cowbit--eye...peterborough ..anythings got to be better than the Stamford way!

Easyjet are fine.... and perfect for Faro......

We have used Easyjet for the last few years to get to Faro from Bristol. Ok, so there is no airline food (who wants it anyway, it just gets pushed around the plastic tray) and it can be a little bit of a scrum to get your seat, but its only a short flight.... We have always found them to be a highly efficient, punctual airline that is hot on safety. Take a magazine and a snack and before you know it you will be in the place that most of wish we could be more often.... Boa Viagem.....
