Quinta do Paraiso

Hi Anyone,

Can someone give me an idea of how far it is to walk from Quinta do Paraiso resort to the beach or centre of Carvoeiro. We are thinking of buying a property in this area and would like some idea of where it is. I have looked on google maps and know the resort well, but can't think if it is up the hill near Monte Carvoiero? Also, we are thinking of living in Carvoeiro and need to understand if work is readily available in the resort in the summer season? We would love to be part of the community for the long term...

It takes about 10-15 mins to walk in to Carvoeiro from Quinta do Paraiso. It is up the hill just past Monte Carvoeiro on the way to Monte Santo and Vila Nova.
I don't really know much about jobs but it seems a lot of the bars and restaurants are worried this may be a quiet summer so they may not be taking on so many staff this year. I expect if your languages are good then you stand a better chance.

Honestly, unless you are fluent in Portuguese and have a skill or qualification that is in short supply in Portugal I would not suggest to anyone that they base their move to Portugal on being able to find even reasonably paid employment.

Portugal is not immune from the economic crisis and unemployment is rising steeply and there is no support structure that comes evn close to that in the UK,

Having done the walk a few times over the last week, I'd say that 10-15 minutes is a bit quick unless you are some sort of power-walker. It's pretty steep coming back.

I guess it depends where the villa is located on QDP - it covers a lot of land.

This was to the CVO side of the Reception area. Maybe I just walk slowly.

Our villa is about as far from the front entrance to QDP as you can get. It takes us 20 mins to walk down to the village and 25 mins to walk back. If we are not feeling too energetic, we park the car at MC and walk down.

We have owned a property at QDP for three years. In our experience it is very well managed and we have nothing but praise for the management team, office staff, housekeepers etc in the manner in which they have looked after our needs. Has been a very pleasant and hassle-free experience.

QDP is in a nice quiet area within easy reach of CVO by QDP bus (in season), car or a leisurely stroll, there are several ways up and down to CVO - some less arduous than others coming back.

Although we have not as yet managed to find any money to buy there, QDP is lovely as is all the staff and sales office, especially Maureen. If we could we would buy there for an investment, thoroughly recommend and recommend all the nice people working there on your behalf. Enjoy, very envious

We have owned our villa on QdP for four years, and now spend about six months of the year there, biased towards the winter months. Would not want to live anywhere else. It has the advantage of maturity, especially in the plants and trees. Also small things, such as all services being buried, so there is no forest of poles and wires. Property is still selling there, with two properties sold on our road in the last three months, one selling in four weeks. If you do decide to buy, Im sure you will not regret it.
